Lead Infrastructure EngineerSummaryLocation: Barcelona (Hybrid)Rate: NegotiableDuration: 6 MonthsAbout the ClientOur client is a global leader in aviation technology, delivering innovative IT and communications solutions that connect airlines, airports, aircraft and governments worldwide.Operating in over 200 countries and territories, they play a critical role in enabling the safe, secure and efficient movement of millions of passengers every day.About the RoleThe Lead Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the implementation, deployment, and engineering lifecycle of platform and infrastructure solutions.This role translates approved platform architecture into reliable, scalable, and operable platforms,ensuring solutions are built, tested, deployed, monitored, and handed over to operations in aproduction-ready state.The Lead Infrastructure Engineer works closely with Platform Architecture, Operations, Vendors, and Product / Delivery teams to ensure platforms meet availability, capacity, resilience, and operational standards.Key Responsibilities:Platform Build & Implementation* Build and implement platform, infrastructure, and network solutions in line with approveddesigns and standards* Configure and integrate hardware, software, and platform components* Ensure solutions are implemented consistently across all environments (dev, test, pre-prod, prod)Testing & Deployment* Execute platform and infrastructure testing, including:Functional and integration testingResilience and failover validation* Deploy platform solutions across all environments* Perform initial infrastructure and network BCP / DR tests* Validate readiness for production useCapacity & Scaling (Execution)* Implement capacity scaling actions according to architectural guidance* Monitor actual capacity usage and performance* Execute short- and mid-term capacity adjustments to maintain service levelsMonitoring & Observability* Implement and configure monitoring tools and agents* Ensure platforms are observable (metrics, logs, alerts, dashboards)* Validate alerting and monitoring coverage before production handoverDocumentation & Knowledge Management* Produce and maintain:SOPs and runbooksOperational proceduresTechnical and operational diagrams* Ensure documentation is accurate, usable, and aligned with the deployed solutionTransition to Operations* Execute structured handover to Operations teams* Support operational readiness reviews* Define and document spare management policies* Ensure platforms meet operational acceptance criteriaSupport & Engineering Ownership* Provide Level 3 support for complex incidents and problems* Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes* Support vendors during escalations and complex technical issuesData Centre Lifecycle (Engineering Phase)* Execute data centre refresh - deployment phase* Deploy new or replacement hardware* Validate installations against design and engineering standardsInterfaces & Collaboration* Platform Architecture (design clarification, constraints, intent)* Platform Operations (handover, BAU readiness, support)* Vendors and third-party suppliers* Product, Delivery, and Program teams* Security and Governance functions (as required)What we are looking forTechnical Skills* Strong experience in platform / infrastructure engineering (on-prem, cloud, or hybrid)* Experience with:Server, storage, and network platformsMonitoring and observability toolsInfrastructure testing and deployment practices* Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skillsEngineering & Delivery Skills* Hands-on engineering mindset* Ability to translate designs into working solutions* Experience working across multiple environments* Strong documentation and operational readiness focusSoft Skills* Clear communication with architecture and operations teams* Ability to work in cross-functional and distributed teams* Ownership mindset and accountability for delivered platformsWhat This Role Is Not* Not responsible for defining architecture or target-state designs* Not accountable for BAU operations (post-handover)* Not a purely vendor-management or coordination roleSuccess Criteria* Platforms are delivered on time, stable, and production-ready* Smooth handover to operations with minimal post-go-live issues* Clear, usable documentation and monitoring in place* Reduced incidents caused by build or deployment issuesCandidates must be willing to work 3 days per week in the office, 2 days remote
