Manufacturing & Applications Engineer

Advanced Sealing Technology (AST) designs and manufactures high-performance mechanical seals for industrial pumps used throughout North America. We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Manufacturing & Applications Engineer to support engineering, manufacturing, product development, and customer applications.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, improving manufacturing processes, and working directly with customers and production personnel. You’ll have the opportunity to wear many hats and make a meaningful impact in a growing company.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements and recommend mechanical seal solutions.
• Provide technical application support to customers and distributors.
• Create and revise engineering drawings using SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Develop manufacturing drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), and work instructions.
• Support manufacturing and assembly operations by troubleshooting production issues.
• Improve manufacturing processes, quality, and efficiency.
• Assist with new product design and continuous product improvement.
• Work closely with production, purchasing, and quality departments.
• Prepare technical quotations and engineering documentation.
• Analyze equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Occasional travel to customer sites for technical support may be required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred

• 2-5 years of engineering or manufacturing experience (strong recent graduates with relevant internships are encouraged to apply).
• Experience with mechanical seals, pumps, compressors, or rotating equipment.
• SolidWorks or AutoCAD experience.
• Manufacturing or machining experience.
• CNC machining knowledge.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
• ERP system experience.
