Job description

Selflock Screw Products is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support our Precision Machining Division. This position is responsible for driving product quality throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, leading quality improvement initiatives, and serving as the primary quality contact for customers and internal manufacturing teams.

This is a hands-on role that requires a strong machining quality background and the ability to work closely with production, engineering, and customers to solve problems and improve processes.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Support all quality activities within the Precision Machining Division.
  • Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and engineering requirements.
  • Read and interpret GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
  • Develop inspection plans and inspection methods.
  • Perform and review First Article Inspections (AS9102).
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Work directly with customers regarding quality issues, corrective actions, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with manufacturing to improve process capability and reduce defects.
  • Review nonconforming material and determine disposition.
  • Support supplier quality and corrective actions when required.
  • Conduct internal quality audits.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and support future AS9100 certification efforts.
  • Develop and monitor quality metrics.
  • Support calibration and measurement systems.
  • Assist with PPAP, FAIRs, customer documentation, and quality records.
  • Train production personnel on quality requirements and workmanship standards.
  • Promote a culture of quality throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of quality experience in a precision machining environment.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes including CNC and Swiss machining preferred.
  • Ability to read complex engineering drawings.
  • Strong GD&T knowledge.
  • Experience using precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages, indicators, optical comparators, and CMMs.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 quality systems; AS9100 experience preferred.
  • Experience leading quality improvement initiatives.
  • Comfortable communicating directly with aerospace and defense customers.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience
