Job description

Seeking Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to work on a wide variety of telecommunications products. This individual will work with a multi-site team of other HW and Firmware Engineers to design, bring-up, and support a large portfolio of new and legacy custom products used by Carrier and Enterprise customers.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Development of electrical hardware used in telecommunications equipment. Equipment is primarily printed circuit board based, but may also include associated electro-mechanical equipment, cables and OEM system and chassis solutions.
  • Design, documentation and testing of prototype and production designs. Work with team of HW designers as well as SW designers, manufacturing, installation, product management and other key product introduction roles to achieve time-to-market and cost objectives.
  • On-going support of production hardware products, including supporting customer service groups (installation, deployment, technical support, repair), manufacturing, manufacturing test. Evaluate issues and recommend solutions via redesign, component substitution, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and 10+ years related experience.
  • Familiarity with Telecom principles and standards. TDM and IP switching systems. Embedded processor systems. Real-time computing. Telecom and networking digital and analog interfaces.
  • Hands on experience with test and debug tools: Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, telecom traffic and signal analyzers
  • Experience with RTOS, Kernel/user space implementation, drivers, and Linux.
  • Able to work independently to achieve specific goals and objectives with minimal guidance
  • Able to work with multi-discipline, multi-site teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Tools:

  • PCB: Cadence Concept/Orcad/Allegro
  • FPGA: Verilog, VHDL, vendor specific tools
  • SW: Linux, RTOS compliers

Benefits & conditions

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position in all geographic locations is $125,000.00 - $140,000.00 annually. Actual compensation within the range will be determined based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills and education. The compensation package also includes eligibility for an incentive plan and comprehensive benefits, subject to applicable requirements.
