Job description
Temporary one year position This position is part of the NTID Center on Access Technology (CAT) Software Development Team. The CAT mission is to investigate, evaluate, and report on the most effective and efficient use of access technologies, and to educate individuals in their use in order to accelerate the widespread implementation of best practices related to Deaf education.
Within CAT, a Full Stack Engineer II is responsible for the technical design and development of technical design and development of both front-end and back-end custom source code for unique applications that are both internally and publicly accessible. They are an integral member of a cross-functional team responsible for promoting research and development of access technologies that will positively impact the quality of lives for all deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Researches, designs, and develops computer and network software or specialized programs
- Analyzes user needs and develops software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis
- Establishes and maintains strategic relationships with internal customers. Collaborates with customers to gather and clarify requirements, deploy programs, and evaluate user feedback
- Develops software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
- Tracks progress on assigned projects to ensure quality deliverables are met according to schedule
- Creates proper documentation and demonstration of solutions by use of flowcharts, charts, diagrams, documents, layouts, and code comments
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Knowledge of standard development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Knowledge of risk management and mitigation techniques
- Skill in front-end applications using React, TypeScript, Jest/Enzyme, GatsbyJS, GraphQL, Bootstrap, and Styled Components
- Skill in SQL Server or MySQL databases and Java, Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP), structured Query Language (SQL), and jquery
- Ability to apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis
- Ability to analyze, design, develop, implement, and maintain web applications, mobile applications, and databases
Minimum Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- 3 years of relevant experience
- Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered, Specialized Contributor Level 2 - A fully functional role requiring established knowledge of the profession or field of work. Responsible for completing substantive assignments and projects. Problems are varied and non-routine, and resolution requires exercising judgment, analysis, advisement, creativity, and understanding broader sets of issues. May provide assistance to entry level staff.
