UX) Designer - Design Systems

Our firm is partnering with a leading Fortune 50 retailer and omnichannel commerce organization to identify an experienced User Experience (UX) Designer - Design Systems. This organization serves millions of customers through industry-leading digital experiences across web and mobile platforms and is committed to creating accessible, scalable, and user-centered products. In this role, you will contribute to the evolution of a shared design system that supports a broad ecosystem of digital products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, product management, and accessibility specialists, to create reusable solutions that drive consistency, efficiency, and exceptional user experiences. This opportunity is ideal for a designer with significant hands-on experience building, maintaining, and governing design systems, rather than solely leveraging existing systems in product design work., As a UX Designer focused on Design Systems, you will:

• Design, maintain, and evolve reusable UI components, patterns, and shared design assets within Figma.
• Establish scalable design solutions that improve consistency across multiple products, teams, and platforms.
• Collaborate closely with UX designers, engineers, product managers, and accessibility experts to enhance usability and design quality.
• Create and maintain design system documentation, standards, best practices, and usage guidelines.
• Partner with engineering teams to ensure alignment between design system assets and production implementations.
• Identify and resolve inconsistencies between design artifacts and coded components.
• Apply accessibility, inclusive design, and responsive design principles across reusable components and patterns.
• Participate in design reviews, governance processes, and contribution workflows that support ongoing system adoption and quality.
• Evaluate and improve tools, workflows, and processes that streamline design-to-development collaboration.
• Support the continued growth and adoption of a shared design language across digital experiences.

• 5+ years of UX, Product Design, or Interaction Design experience.
• Proven hands-on experience building, maintaining, governing, or evolving enterprise design systems.
• Demonstrated expertise creating reusable components, patterns, and shared component libraries.
• Advanced proficiency with Figma, including:
• Components
• Variants
• Auto Layout
• Shared Libraries
• Strong understanding of design systems, component architecture, and scalable design methodologies.
• Experience developing design system documentation, standards, and adoption guidelines.
• Experience partnering directly with engineering teams to translate design specifications into production-ready solutions.
• Ability to identify and address discrepancies between design assets and implemented components.
• Working knowledge of accessibility standards, inclusive design principles, and their application within design systems.
• Strong understanding of responsive design principles for web and mobile experiences.
• Experience working within cross-functional product teams consisting of design, engineering, and product stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Portfolio demonstrating:
• Design system ownership or significant contributions
• Component architecture
• Reusable pattern development
• Shared libraries
• Documentation and governance
• Scalable cross-product design solution +

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience supporting design systems across web, iOS, and Android platforms.
• Knowledge of design tokens, governance models, contribution workflows, and release management processes.
• Familiarity with modern design-to-code workflows and product development methodologies.
• Exposure to AI-assisted design and development tools, including:
• Prompt-based design workflows
• Design automation tools
• Code generation solutions
• Figma Make or similar technologies
• Emerging AI-enabled product design platforms
• Experience driving design system adoption across large, enterprise-scale organizations.
