Job description

We are seeking a Part-Time Web Accessibility Specialist to support the modernization and ongoing maintenance of accessible, user-centered HR websites.

This position will focus on improving digital accessibility, website usability, content quality, and user engagement across internal and external web platforms. The selected specialist will identify and remediate accessibility barriers, support website redesign activities, improve web content, create accessible visual materials, and help establish sustainable website-governance practices.

This role is well suited for an accessibility professional with hands-on experience implementing ADA and WCAG Level AA standards, managing content in Adobe Experience Manager, conducting accessibility testing, and translating technical accessibility requirements into practical guidance for nontechnical stakeholders., Website Accessibility Compliance

  • Conduct accessibility audits of internal and public-facing websites.
  • Identify accessibility barriers affecting users with disabilities.
  • Remediate website content and design issues to support ADA and WCAG Level AA compliance.
  • Review web pages, documents, graphics, layouts, and digital components for accessibility.
  • Validate completed updates using manual and automated accessibility-testing methods.
  • Document accessibility findings, remediation actions, and outstanding risks., * Improve headings, links, navigation labels, image descriptions, and page organization.
  • Ensure content is understandable and accessible to employees, job seekers, and members of the public.
  • Coordinate content updates with communications, HR, and functional stakeholders.

Website Redesign and Modernization

  • Support website modernization and redesign initiatives.
  • Recommend improvements to website structure, navigation, layout, and information architecture.
  • Apply user-centered design principles when evaluating existing and proposed web experiences.
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to implement accessible design improvements.
  • Help ensure that redesigned pages meet accessibility, usability, and branding expectations.

Accessibility Training and Guidance

  • Develop accessibility guidance, reference materials, and practical resources for content contributors.
  • Train staff on ADA, WCAG, inclusive design, accessible content, and compliant publishing practices.
  • Explain technical accessibility requirements in clear, practical language.
  • Provide recommendations to content owners before content is published.
  • Support staff in applying accessibility standards consistently.

Website Governance and Review Processes

  • Establish and document accessibility-review procedures.
  • Develop content standards, publishing guidelines, and website-maintenance workflows.
  • Create repeatable processes for reviewing new and updated digital content.
  • Support long-term compliance through sustainable governance practices.
  • Maintain documentation related to accessibility testing, remediation, approvals, and ongoing monitoring.

User Experience Enhancement

  • Review user feedback, website analytics, and usage patterns.
  • Identify opportunities to improve navigation, usability, accessibility, and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct or support usability testing and UX evaluations.
  • Recommend changes that make digital services easier to locate, understand, and use.
  • Balance accessibility requirements with user needs, organizational goals, and technical limitations., * Stakeholder training and facilitation.

Required Abilities

  • Identify and resolve accessibility barriers in digital content.
  • Translate technical accessibility standards into practical guidance.

  • Manage multiple projects within a 25-hour weekly schedule.
  • Collaborate with communications, HR, IT, design, and functional teams.
  • Analyze user feedback and website data to recommend improvements.
  • Work independently while coordinating effectively with stakeholders.
  • Develop sustainable processes that support continued accessibility compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Digital Media, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in website management, digital accessibility, user-experience design, content strategy, or a related area.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing ADA and WCAG 2.0 or WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards.
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager or a comparable enterprise content-management platform.
  • Experience applying website-governance and digital-publishing practices.
  • Familiarity with accessibility-testing tools such as WAVE, Axe, Siteimprove, or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design, information architecture, plain language, and inclusive-content practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities within a part-time schedule.
  • Strong written, verbal, training, and stakeholder-communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accessibility certification such as CPACC, WAS, or an equivalent credential.
  • Experience supporting government, public-sector, or large-enterprise organizations.
  • Experience working with both internal intranet platforms and external public-facing websites.
  • Experience conducting accessibility audits and managing remediation activities.
  • Experience developing website standards, governance procedures, and content-maintenance workflows.
  • Experience training content authors and nontechnical stakeholders on accessibility requirements.
  • Graphic-design experience using Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or similar tools.
  • Experience using web analytics to evaluate user behavior and recommend improvements.
