Data Center Technician

These technicians will not perform network configurations. Instead, they will serve as physical, onsite support for remote engineering teams, responding to any rack-level, cabling, power, or hardware-related issues that may arise during scheduled overnight maintenance windows.

This effort supports 30 hospitals with approximately 615 network closets, staffed by six regionally assigned technicians across North and South Texas.

This will be an overnight role with hours from roughly 8 PM - 4 AM (may require some slight flexibility on occasion)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide onsite Smart Hands support during scheduled overnight change windows
• Physically access network closets, racks, and cabinets within hospital facilities
• Perform rack-level tasks as directed by remote network engineers, including:
• Reseating hardware components
• Reseating or replacing copper and fiber cabling
• Power cycling network devices
• Connecting console cables for remote access
• Verify physical device status (LED indicators, fan operation, alarms)
• Assist with hardware swaps when required (physical tasks only)
• Capture and report details such as:
• Device serial numbers
• Port and rack locations
• Visual observations and photos when requested
• Maintain real-time communication with remote engineering teams via phone or collaboration tools
• Follow approved change management, escalation, and documentation procedures
• Comply with all hospital safety, security, and access policies

Environment & Scope

• Healthcare hospital facilities (non-patient-facing)
• 30 hospitals across North and South Texas
• ~615 network closets
• Cisco network infrastructure
• Overnight maintenance windows only
• Regional deployment model (technicians assigned to either North or South Texas)

• 2+ years of experience as a:
• Smart Hands Technician
• Rack & Stack Technician
• Data Center or Network Support Technician
• Strong understanding of:
• Network cabling (copper and fiber)
• Rack layouts and cable management best practices
• Power systems (PDUs, redundant power supplies)
• Comfortable working overnight shifts in critical environments
• Ability to follow precise instructions from remote technical teams
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Ability to lift and maneuver equipment (up to ~50 lbs)
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between assigned hospital sites, * Prior experience supporting healthcare or regulated environments
• Familiarity with Cisco network hardware (routers and switches)
• Experience supporting network maintenance or upgrade activities
• Relevant certifications (preferred, not required):
• CompTIA Network+
• Data Center Technician certifications
• Hands-on Cisco hardware experience (non-configuration)
