Tier 3 Data Center Network Engineer

Our client is seeking a Senior Tier 3 Data Center Network Engineer to provide advanced engineering and operational support for a large-scale Cisco data center network environment. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and Tier 3 support of modern Cisco Nexus data center fabrics, with a strong focus on VXLAN/EVPN architectures and Cisco Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller (NDFC). This is a highly technical position requiring deep expertise in data center networking, complex troubleshooting, and infrastructure lifecycle management. The ideal candidate will serve as the highest level of technical escalation, drive network modernization initiatives, and collaborate closely with cross-functional infrastructure and security teams., * Provide Tier 3 operational support for complex Cisco data center network incidents, performing advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

• Design, implement, and maintain Cisco Nexus data center fabrics utilizing VXLAN/EVPN overlay networking and BGP underlay architectures.
• Administer and optimize Cisco Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller (NDFC) for fabric provisioning, policy management, monitoring, and lifecycle operations.
• Lead data center network upgrades, migrations, capacity planning, and infrastructure refresh initiatives.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, network standards, operational procedures, and runbooks.
• Partner with infrastructure, security, compute, and application teams to support network-related projects and production changes.
• Participate in change management activities, including scheduled maintenance windows and critical production implementations.
• Mentor Tier 1 and Tier 2 engineers by providing technical guidance and knowledge transfer on data center networking technologies.
• Support network automation initiatives using Python, Ansible, or native NDFC automation capabilities.

• 6+ years of enterprise network engineering experience, including at least 3 years supporting modern data center networking environments.
• Expert-level experience with Cisco Nexus 9000 Series switching platforms.
• Strong hands-on experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting VXLAN/EVPN fabrics.
• Extensive production experience administering Cisco Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller (NDFC), including fabric provisioning, policy management, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Solid understanding of BGP underlay and overlay networking within data center environments.
• Advanced troubleshooting experience across Layer 2, Layer 3, multicast, and data center fabric technologies.
• Strong understanding of network design principles, high availability, and scalable data center architectures.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while supporting Pacific Time business hours.
