- Represent design systems in cross-functional conversations, and keep work aligned with our content and accessibility standards.
Education Level Bachelor’s Degree
Experience/Demonstrated Competencies Several years as a Product/UX Designer in digital product teams, with deep, demonstrable design systems expertise - enough to be the most senior systems voice in a team and set its direction. Financial services or fintech a strong plus.
Experience in agile, cross-functional squads with Product and Engineering.
A portfolio showing strong end-to-end product design and real systems depth - components, tokens, patterns - plus a track record of raising craft and driving shared practice, not just shipping your own work.
Language Competencies ‘- Fluency in English - written and spoken
Knowledge required Deep design systems expertise: tokens, components, patterns, theming, and contribution models.
End-to-end product design across web and native mobile - discovery to delivery.
WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, especially as it applies to component design.
How product metrics (conversion, task completion, error rates) connect to design decisions.
How AI tools can augment design work - and when human judgement has to override them.
Solid grounding in research methods and content design principles.
Capabilities for this job You take full ownership and drive improvements independently, managing your own workload across discovery and delivery.
You’re genuinely fluent in Figma - variables, auto-layout, component properties.
You set the systems bar, coach others to meet it, and influence cross-functional decisions without needing formal authority.
You explain your design rationale clearly to people who aren’t designers, and balance user needs with business and technical reality.
What motivates you? You genuinely love design systems - the precision, the reusability, the pattern that just works everywhere.
You’re self-propelled: you don’t wait for a brief or permission to make the experience better.
You’re driven to make simple, human-centred experiences in a complex financial context.
You’re comfortable with ambiguity and lean towards action over perfection.

About the company
At Ikano Bank, we believe work should feel meaningful and inspiring. Together, we create a great place to work where people are inspired to be the best they can be while contributing to a better life for our customers and the long-term success of the Bank. Guided by our Swedish heritage and values: common sense and simplicity, working together and daring to be different, we keep things straightforward and down-to-earth. If you like the idea of being part of a team that works hard, enjoys solving challenges together and dares to do things a little differently, you will feel right at home here.
Working in the Commercial B2C Function means creating and shaping the banking products and services our customers rely on. You’ll drive innovation by developing new solutions, enhancing existing ones, and ensuring they stay competitive, compliant, and profitable. Every day, you’ll make an impact by delivering value to customers, guiding the bank’s growth, and keeping our offerings relevant and attractive in a fast-changing market.
Purpose of the Job This is a foundational hire - the first dedicated design systems voice on our team. We’re looking for someone senior enough to set the standard, self-driven enough to establish it without waiting for direction, and generous enough to bring everyone else up with them.
You’ll do two things at once: deliver brilliant hands-on product design, and be the team’s go-to expert on design systems. Embedded in a cross-functional squad with Product and Tech, you’ll own end-to-end experience quality for your area - while also owning our design system - the components, tokens, and patterns that keep everything consistent. You’ll be our most senior systems voice from day one, laying the foundations and setting the bar before the function grows around you. It’s a lead-by-doing role, not a people-management one.
Responsibilities of the Job - Own the design quality of your Product area end to end - spot problems early, propose solutions, and Drive them home with your PM.
- design complete customer journeys: research, flows, prototypes, and production-ready specs in Figma.
- Run your Own research and usability testing, and bring in quantitative data to validate decisions.
- Own our design system - its components, tokens, and documentation - establishing the patterns, principles, and ways of working the team will build on, and unblocking designers on the hard systems problems.
- Turn one-off solutions into reusable, shared practice rather than letting the same thing get rebuilt ten times.
- Mentor other Product designers, lifting their craft and their systematic thinking.
