Job description
You will provide frontline technical support to increase user and system efficiency, resolving routine hardware and software issues and escalating complex cases to technical experts. You will support end users, team leads, and cross-functional IT resources during a 1st shift, onsite Monday-Friday schedule.
Here’s How You’ll Make an Impact on the Team
- Respond to telephone, voicemail, email, and in-person requests; evaluate and prioritize incoming support requests and attempt resolution while users are on the line.
- Diagnose and isolate system issues by interviewing users and guiding them through preliminary diagnostic steps to determine probable cause (hardware, software, network, peripherals).
- Log, track, and maintain history records and related problem documentation; prepare standard reports and alert technical areas to recurring patterns.
- Provide status updates and completion information to users and team leads via voicemail, email, or in person.
- Install or assist with installation of hardware, software, upgrades, and peripheral components (monitors, keyboards, printers, disk drives).
- Create user documentation, develop training materials, and deliver basic technical presentations to teach effective system use.
- Apply continuous improvement techniques to identify and implement service and process improvements.
- Evaluate and advise on ergonomics-related issues and workstation setup when encountered.
- Participate in cross-functional or project team responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree (required) or trade school completion or equivalent external training in computer services/repair.
- Two or more years of directly related IT helpdesk or PC support experience.
- General knowledge of personal computer operations, office applications, email, and PC operating systems.
- Proficiency diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues and familiarity with peripherals and basic networking concepts.
- Strong problem recognition, isolation, and resolution skills; ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
- Effective communication skills for responding to inquiries and providing user instruction.
- Ability to create basic user documentation and deliver introductory technical training.
