Job description
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, implementation, security, and management of the organization’s information technology systems. The CIO ensures technology supports the organization’s mission of delivering high-quality resident care while maintaining compliance with federal and state healthcare regulations. This role partners with executive leadership to leverage technology that improves clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, cybersecurity, and business performance across all nursing home and corporate operations., * Develop and execute the organization’s information technology strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Serve as a member of the executive leadership team, providing guidance on technology initiatives and investments.
- Evaluate emerging technologies to improve resident care, employee productivity, and operational performance.
- Develop short- and long-term technology roadmaps.
- Direct all IT operations across healthcare facilities.
- Oversee infrastructure including servers, networks, cloud services, telecommunications, hardware, and software.
- Ensure high availability of critical systems through disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, consultants, and service providers.
- Develop and manage the IT department budget.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive cybersecurity programs.
- Ensure compliance with HlPAA, HITECH, CMS regulations, and applicable federal and state privacy laws.
- Monitor security risks, conduct vulnerability assessments, and coordinate incident response.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, MIS, or related discipline) preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive information technology leadership experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in executive IT leadership.
- Healthcare experience required; skilled nursing, long-term care, or post-acute care experience strongly preferred.
- Experience implementing and managing Electronic Health Records (EHR), cybersecurity programs, cloud technologies, and enterprise applications.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations and reimbursement.
- Extensive knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, CMS, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Expertise in cybersecurity frameworks and risk management.
- Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead organizational change and technology transformation.
- Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities.
