- Build and maintain scalable data architectures on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure Data Lake, or other public cloud environments to support big data systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient data models utilizing dimensional modeling and data warehousing design principles.
- Manage and improve SQL databases including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud databases by writing complex queries, stored procedures, and optimizing query performance.
- Develop and implement data management strategies for linked data integration, Hadoop ecosystems (including Apache Hive and Spark), and other big data technologies like Hadoop clusters.
- Support business intelligence initiatives by creating dashboards and reports using tools like Looker or other BI tools to visualize insights effectively.
- Write scripts in Python, Bash (Unix shell), or Shell Scripting to automate workflows, manage databases, or perform analysis tasks efficiently.
- Participate in Agile development cycles to deliver high-quality solutions on time while continuously improving existing processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in software development with strong proficiency in SQL programming and database design principles.
- Hands-on experience working with big data systems such as Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, Spark) and cloud-based storage solutions like Azure Data Lake or AWS services.
- Solid understanding of ETL pipeline development including tools like Informatica or Talend as well as custom scripting for automation.
- Familiarity with cloud databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database), data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling techniques, and query management strategies.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Java and Python for building scalable data solutions.
- Experience with business intelligence tools such as Looker or similar platforms for creating insightful dashboards.
- Ability to design effective data models that support linked data integration and analytics initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills combined with excellent communication abilities to collaborate across teams effectively.
- Experience working within Agile environments to deliver iterative improvements rapidly.
Benefits & conditions
$60,000 - $80,000 a year - Full-time, Contract
