Job description

This role will be focused on the documentation, integration, and support of LabVIEW-based automated test equipment for aerospace products and systems. The Software Test Engineer will help ensure that the test equipment design meets all of the product testing and test coverage requirements as well as ensuring production equipment is operational.

Responsibilities for the Software Test Engineer may include some or all of the following:

  • Support development of electrical, mechanical, and software specifications to test end items. The designs must be traceable to customer and system specifications to systems, electrical, mechanical, and software detail specifications
  • Develop verification and validation procedures to ensure system will perform as specified to meet customer and system requirements
  • Support failure investigation in developing cause and corrective action for manufacturing and customer top-level systems integration and test failures
  • Debug test software bugs involving test hardware and interaction between the test subject and the test equipment
  • Communicate technical issues through clear written, verbal and presentation media
  • Support the manufacturing/operations group to help ensure on-time delivery of product

In performing these activities, the Software Test Equipment Engineer will interface with Customers, External Suppliers, Program Managers, Engineering Managers, Mechanical, Software, Electrical, and Systems Engineers, as well as the Manufacturing organization., Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of plant infrastructure supporting aerospace manufacturing operations. This includes utilities, building systems, and maintenance programs that ensure safe and reliable facility operations. This role will oversee the site’s EH&S and security programs., * Manage facility maintenance and infrastructure systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, compressed air, and building systems.

  • Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maintain reliability of plant utilities and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate capital improvement projects for facility upgrades and expansions.
  • Manage outside contractors and service vendors performing building maintenance and construction work.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and EHS teams to support production uptime and continuous improvement.

Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Software / System Engineering or related field is required., * 5 to 10 years of Aerospace industry experience or experience in a regulated industry

  • Experience working with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, communication analyzers
  • Experience programming in a modern high level computer language (LabVIEW preferred)
  • A proactive style, high energy level, and positive outlook
  • Ability to plan but also work to changing priorities
  • Able to work both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Experience generating and presenting project status and test data reports
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) and team oriented, communication with internal and external customers
  • Hands-on Aerospace/Military hardware design, build, test, and integration experience (or in other regulated industry)
  • Able to identify problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Competent working with Microsoft Office applications
  • A highly organized, self-motivated individual contributor capable of operating with minimal direction
  • US Citizen or Permanent resident required

Other Desirable Attributes:

  • Qualified to either a National Instruments CLAD or CLD
  • Familiarity with requirements driven development
  • Familiarity with project planning
  • Exposure to test systems for one or more of the following: electronic subsystems, battery subsystems, GPS subsystems, fin and/or canard control subsystems, mission computer subsystems, Fuels systems
  • Able to function at a high level with multiple tasks and projects, and to effectively change direction based upon business needs, * 8+ years managing industrial facilities or plant maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Direct responsibility for plant utility systems (HVAC, electrical distribution, compressed air, chillers, vacuum, etc.).
  • Experience leading maintenance technicians and contractors.
  • Track record of maintaining high uptime of facility infrastructure supporting production.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute facility improvement and capital projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, or industrial).
