Job description
Shell Lumber & Hardware is seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Data Specialist to support the Corporate Inventory Manager by maintaining the accuracy and integrity of inventory data within the Epicor ERP system.
This position is responsible for creating and maintaining item master records, processing inventory transactions, ensuring accurate product data, supporting purchasing and inventory control initiatives, and assisting with cycle counts and physical inventories across all company locations., Epicor ERP Data Management
- Create and maintain item master records in Epicor ERP.
- Enter new products, vendors, pricing, units of measure, and inventory attributes.
- Maintain product descriptions, categories, manufacturer information, barcodes, and SKU data.
- Update discontinued items, substitutions, and replacement products.
- Ensure inventory data is complete, accurate, and standardized across all company locations.
Inventory Transactions
- Process inventory adjustments, transfers, receipts, and corrections in Epicor.
- Assist with warehouse location maintenance and inventory organization.
- Verify inventory transactions for accuracy before posting.
- Investigate transaction errors and coordinate corrections with the Corporate Inventory Manager.
- Support branch personnel with inventory-related Epicor questions.
Inventory Control Support
- Assist with company-wide cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
- Research inventory discrepancies and transaction history.
- Reconcile inventory variances.
- Generate inventory reports for management review.
- Support inventory audits and compliance initiatives.
Purchasing Support
- Assist Purchasing with item setup and vendor information.
- Maintain manufacturer and supplier records.
- Update cost changes and product information as directed.
- Coordinate data updates related to new product introductions.
Reporting & Documentation
- Produce inventory reports from Epicor.
- Maintain inventory documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Assist in developing dashboards and inventory performance reports.
- Ensure documentation is complete and current.
Administrative Support
- Support the Corporate Inventory Manager with special projects.
- Assist in developing standardized inventory procedures.
- Coordinate data cleanup initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality of pricing and inventory information.
Requirements
The ideal candidate has strong Epicor ERP experience, exceptional attention to detail, and a solid understanding of inventory management in a retail or wholesale distribution environment., * Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent work experience will be considered.
Experience
- 2-5 years of inventory, purchasing, ERP, or data management experience.
- Experience with Epicor ERP strongly preferred.
- Experience in building materials, hardware, wholesale distribution, or retail inventory preferred.
Required Skills
- Experience using Epicor ERP or comparable ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent data entry accuracy and speed.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with barcode inventory systems.
- Knowledge of inventory control procedures.
- Experience with product master data management.
- Familiarity with purchasing and receiving processes.
- Experience working in multi-location inventory environments.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work primarily in an office environment with occasional warehouse visits.
