Job description

MTG IT & AV Professionals is looking for a dependable and experienced Level 2 Field Technician to join our technical services team. This is a hybrid position combining regular in-office work at our Bensalem headquarters with scheduled field assignments covering onsite client support, equipment installation, AV integration, structured cabling, troubleshooting, and project work., * Travel to client sites to perform onsite technical support, installations, troubleshooting, and project work

  • Rack, mount, install, and cable network equipment, servers, switches, firewalls, UPS units, patch panels, and related hardware
  • Install and terminate structured cabling, including Cat5e/6/6A copper and fiber, patch panels, keystones, jacks, labeling, testing, certification, tracing, and toning
  • Pull and dress cable in ceilings, walls, and risers using J-hooks, ladder rack, and cable tray, respecting plenum, firestop, and separation requirements
  • Install and commission audio visual systems, including flat panel displays and mounts, projectors and screens, video conferencing rooms (Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms), cameras, soundbars, speakers, microphones, paging and intercom endpoints, and HDMI/HDBaseT extension
  • Troubleshoot AV signal flow, connectivity, audio, and control issues from source to display
  • Assist with network closet cleanups, equipment replacements, and infrastructure improvements
  • Stage and prepare equipment before deployment, including configuration, labeling, testing, and asset documentation
  • Work alongside the Desktop, Networking, and Project Management teams on multi-phase and multi-site engagements
  • Accurately document onsite work, ticket notes, equipment changes, cable test results, and client updates
  • Use ticketing systems to manage assigned work, update statuses, and record time
  • Create and update technical documentation and SOPs based on company standards
  • Split time between the MTG office and client field assignments based on project schedules and service needs
  • Escalate issues when appropriate while maintaining ownership through resolution
  • Participate in the design and evaluation of IT and AV products, solutions, and technologies to support client and internal needs
  • Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, internal technical staff, and management

Requirements

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience installing and supporting network equipment, servers, workstations, audio visual systems, structured cabling, and related IT infrastructure. Strong AV and cabling skills are central to this role, not an afterthought: a meaningful share of your field time will be spent pulling and terminating cable, building racks, and installing and commissioning displays, conference rooms, and AV endpoints.

In-office days are dedicated to ticket management, documentation, equipment staging, internal technical tasks, team collaboration, and the design and evaluation of products and solutions. Field days focus on client site visits and project execution.

This role requires strong technical ability, professional communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to take ownership of tasks through completion., * Five or more years of IT support, field technician, desktop support, or related technical experience

  • Experience working in business or corporate IT environments
  • Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting network equipment, servers, desktops, laptops, printers, and related hardware
  • Hands-on structured cabling experience, including termination, patch panels, cable testing, line tracing, and toning
  • Practical audio visual experience installing, cabling, and troubleshooting displays, mounts, conference room systems, or related AV endpoints
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems, service documentation, and time entry
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and internal teams
  • Ability to work independently onsite and make sound technical decisions
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to lift, move, mount, and install IT and AV equipment, and to work safely from ladders and lifts
  • High school diploma or equivalent

TECHNICAL SKILLS (PREFERRED)

  • Server and network equipment installation, rack mounting, cable management, and labeling
  • Copper and fiber termination, patch panel work, Fluke or equivalent cable certification, and line toning
  • Working knowledge of TIA/EIA-568 standards, BICSI best practices, and NEC Article 725/800 requirements
  • AV integration: display and projector mounting, video conferencing room builds and commissioning, audio tuning, HDMI/HDBaseT and AV-over-IP signal extension, control system basics
  • Workstation, laptop, printer, and peripheral hardware installation and repair
  • Switch, firewall, wireless access point, and VoIP deployment and basic configuration
  • Low voltage adjacent systems such as IP surveillance, access control, and paging or intercom
  • MSP tools, RMM platforms, or PSA/ticketing systems experience

  • Hardware vendor certifications
  • OSHA 10 or 30, * Are you a well-rounded IT and low voltage professional with a solid understanding of IT infrastructure, hardware, troubleshooting, and low voltage electrical principles?
  • How many years of hands-on structured cabling experience do you have, including termination, patch panel work, testing, and toning?
  • Describe your hands-on AV experience (displays, mounts, video conferencing rooms, projectors, audio, signal extension).
  • Do you have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record?
  • Are you able to lift and move IT and AV equipment and work from ladders and lifts as needed?
