Job description

Frontend Changes, Optimizations, and Projects

  • Build, test, and ship website features and improvements
  • Demonstrate customer-centric development (UI and UX) in all features
  • Take high-level ideas and build them out, proactively asking the right questions to clarify direction
  • Work within our existing theme while exercising agency to make impactful improvements
  • Maintain our robust knowledge base by effectively documenting decisions, features, and technical changes
  • Maintain our automated testing suite

SEO Improvements

  • Maintain our strong technical SEO foundation
  • Improve the web application stack and ensure high efficiency when implementing new features
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to build tools that can be used to drive authentic and organic growth
  • Design and execute tools that educate potential customers
  • Use technology to answer questions that customers may have, regarding fitment, inventory, pricing, and more
  • Triage any site health issues and find opportunities by using tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, and SEMRush daily

Inventory & Pricing

  • Read & write code for automated inventory and pricing updates
  • Connect to APIs, SFTP servers, and any other supplier data feed to extract, transform, and load data where it’s needed
  • Dockerize all scripts and run them in a micro-service style
  • AWS and Cloud Infrastructure
  • Push code to Github that is then deployed to the AWS Cloud
  • Strive for a highly efficient stack, utilizing serverless technology where possible
  • Security is paramount, use best practices always

Requirements

We are looking for someone who can help us further the vision of being the most advanced website in the automotive industry. This individual will work on both frontend and backend, shaping the website to make it both user friendly and as accurate as possible. The ideal candidate is someone who excels while being challenged. Someone that enjoys solving problems creatively, wants to try new things, and can bring a curious mind to any project put in front of them. This is not the kind of job you just sit and write code at, we’re looking for someone that can think independently, lives outside of the box, can manage their own work, and is passionate about that work. We want someone who can understand the automotive community and execute projects to make a positive impact based on information in front of us., We need you to understand and work in these. We’re happy to train you in the technical skillset as long as there is a foundation. Not necessarily in all of these, but the more the better!

  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving (seriously)
  • Javascript (React, Next.js, Typescript, Node)
  • Python (API connections, ETL, inventory, pricing, and so on)
  • MySQL (or similar relational databases)
  • Docker (including Dockerfiles, builds, deploys, Container Registry, etc.)
  • Github (Best practices in pulling/pushing code, pull requests, and so on)
  • AWS or similar Cloud Platforms (Our stack consists of a variety of services including Lambda, RDS, ECS, and more. You need an understanding of these or equivalent services in other cloud platforms)

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; with occasional lifting.

That being said, we expect you to be able to sit at your desk and type out your code on a computer, while critically reviewing information presented to you, so we can work on projects together. You’ll be in a shop space surrounded by dope cars, so we might need you to help move moderately heavy boxes or items occasionally.

Expectations

  • The ability to think through problems critically to solve them, while leaning on the team for help where needed
  • In-person with some allowance for Hybrid work and required team check-ins
  • Maintain daily tracking of hours and time allocation
  • Proactively communicate delays, blockers, or performance anomalies
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills to push projects forward to completion
  • Education
  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Experience
  • 2+ years of experience writing and deploying code in the aforementioned languages and frameworks
  • 2+ years of web development or SaaS experience
  • At least 1 year of experience using AI tooling
  • A solid understanding of what AI is and is not
  • Experience with ecommerce and/or automotive brand marketing preferred

Qualifications

Relevant experience, certifications, or degrees

Familiarity with tools like Slack, Google Sheets, Docs, Analytics, Email, and similar, In a nutshell, we’re looking for someone exceptional in problem solving, critical thinking, and who wants to grow as part of a small team, and can push our vision for the best automotive website forward.

We need you to be proficient in modern languages and frameworks, while being open to new ideas and creative solutions.

And finally, we need you to be an awesome person that is excited to come to work and do cool things.
