Job description

The ECU Remap Developer will develop, customize, and refine proprietary calibration solutions used in automotive ECU reprogramming.

The professional will work with ECU software, vehicle data and telemetry to improve calibration parameters related to engine performance, drivability, efficiency and reliability.

The position will collaborate with Calibrators and other technical personnel to translate software and calibration development into practical applications and validated vehicle solutions.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop ECU remap calibrations from original ECU files;

  • Create and customize vehicle-specific calibration solutions;

  • Develop Stage 1, Stage 2 and custom calibrations;

  • Analyze OEM ECU calibration strategies;

  • Identify and modify relevant ECU maps and parameters;

  • Customize existing proprietary remap packages for specific applications;

  • Analyze telemetry and datalog information;

  • Refine calibration parameters based on real vehicle data;

  • Develop solutions for different engines, vehicles, fuels and hardware configurations;

  • Analyze torque management strategies;

  • Develop and refine boost control strategies;

  • Develop fuel and injection calibration;

  • Develop ignition calibration;

  • Analyze and calibrate lambda and AFR targets;

  • Identify and properly manage ECU limiters and protection strategies;

  • Diagnose calibration-related issues;

  • Compare stock and modified software versions;

  • Validate calibration performance and drivability;

  • Work with Calibrators during real-world testing and validation;

  • Provide technical feedback based on vehicle telemetry;

  • Document calibration changes and technical decisions;

  • Support research and development of new calibration solutions;

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of DWR proprietary remap packages.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

Candidates must demonstrate practical knowledge of ECU calibration development, including:

  • ECU remap development;

  • Advanced automotive engine

Pay: $24.00 - $25.00 per hour

Application Question(s):

    1. Do you personally DEVELOP ECU remap calibration files?

If No, the candidate does not qualify for this position.

  • Can you receive an ORIGINAL/STOCK ECU file and develop the calibration yourself?

A) Yes, independently B) Yes, with DAMOS/A2L or map pack C) Only if I receive an already modified reference file D) No

    1. Which statement best describes your current work?

A) I personally develop ECU calibrations from original files B) I develop some calibrations but also use third-party files C) I mainly modify previously developed calibrations D) I mainly purchase tuning files from external providers E) I mainly read/write/flash ECU files F) I mainly install tuning files developed by others

    1. Can you work in WinOLS without a pre-built map pack?

Requirements

To qualify, you must have hands-on experience developing ECU calibration files yourself.

You should be capable of receiving an original ECU file and independently analyzing the calibration strategy, identifying the relevant maps and parameters, developing the required modifications, analyzing vehicle data, refining the calibration, and validating the final result.

If your experience is primarily limited to:

  • Reading ECU files;

  • Writing or flashing ECU files;

  • Using KESS, KTAG, FLEX, AutoTuner or similar programming tools;

  • Purchasing tuning files from third-party providers

About the company

DWR Engine Calibration LLC is seeking an experienced ECU Remap Developer to join its technical team.

This is a development position.

We are specifically looking for a professional who can develop, customize, refine, and validate ECU remap calibrations, rather than simply read, write, flash, install, or apply files developed by other tuners or third-party suppliers.
