Data Center Field Technician

We are seeking experienced Data Center Field Technicians for a short-term onsite project supporting remote engineering teams with fiber and network connectivity troubleshooting.

Technicians will work onsite and assist remote engineers with troubleshooting fiber patch connections and related data center infrastructure.

Shift Coverage

Three shifts will be used to provide coverage across 24x5 operations. Technicians will be assigned to a specific shift based on project requirements and availability.

Responsibilities

• Assist remote engineers with onsite fiber and connectivity troubleshooting
• Inspect and troubleshoot fiber patch connections
• Work with fiber patch panels, MPO connections, network devices, racks, and cabling
• Perform fiber cleaning and basic fiber troubleshooting
• Use a VFL (Visual Fault Locator) for troubleshooting and verification
• Identify and report connectivity or cabling issues
• Follow instructions provided by remote engineering teams
• Provide updates through designated communication/chat channels
• Document completed work and findings

• Previous experience working in a data center environment
• Hands-on experience with fiber optic cabling and patching
• Familiarity with MPO fiber connections
• Experience working with network racks, patch panels, and network equipment
• Ability to perform basic fiber cleaning and troubleshooting
• Experience using a VFL or similar fiber testing equipment
• Comfortable following remote engineering instructions
• Strong communication and documentation skills

Technician Must Have

• VFL / Visual Fault Locator
• Basic networking toolkit
• Required PPE for data center work
• Smartphone capable of accessing project communication/chat groups
• Reliable transportation to the assigned site
