Job description
We are looking for experienced Data Center Technicians to support an urgent short-term data center project in Ohio. The technicians will provide hands-on support for rack and stack activities, network troubleshooting, and fiber connectivity while assisting remote engineering teams., * Perform rack and stack activities for network and data center equipment.
- Troubleshoot fiber patch connections and assist remote engineers with troubleshooting.
- Install, connect, disconnect, and organize network and fiber cabling.
- Work with fiber patch panels, network devices, racks, and related data center infrastructure.
- Perform fiber cleaning and MPO fiber troubleshooting.
- Use VFL (Visual Fault Locator) and fiber testing equipment.
- Read and interpret VFL light indications to identify fiber connectivity issues.
- Support remote engineering teams through chat and other communication channels.
- Follow data center safety, security, and operational procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Provide clear updates on completed activities and any technical issues encountered.
Requirements
- Previous hands-on experience working in a data center environment.
- Experience with rack and stack activities.
- Familiarity with fiber optics and fiber patching.
- Experience working with network devices, racks, patch panels, and cabling.
- Knowledge of MPO fiber connections and troubleshooting.
- Experience performing fiber cleaning.
- Ability to use and read a VFL (Visual Fault Locator).
- Basic networking troubleshooting knowledge.
- Ability to follow instructions from remote engineers and work independently onsite.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work rotating shifts supporting 24x5 operations.
Required Tools / Equipment
Technicians must have access to:
- VFL (Visual Fault Locator)
- Basic networking toolkit
- Required PPE
- Smartphone for communication through project chat groups, The ideal candidate will have hands-on data center experience, strong fiber troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work effectively with remote engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
