Job description

Organize, label, route, and secure copper and fiber cabling in enterprise data centers and IDF/MDF closets.
Perform complete cable remediation projects, including removing abandoned cabling and improving airflow.
Install cable management systems including ladder racks, vertical/horizontal managers, Velcro, patch panels, and rack accessories.
Patch and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic connections.
Install and rack servers, switches, firewalls, UPS equipment, and other infrastructure hardware.
Assist with equipment moves, adds, and changes (MAC work).
Document rack layouts, cable paths, port assignments, and asset inventory.
Maintain accurate labeling following company standards.
Assist with network and server deployments during maintenance windows.
Support data center cleanliness and organization initiatives.
Coordinate with internal IT teams, vendors, and contractors during projects.

Requirements

3+ years of experience in enterprise data centers or structured cabling.
Experience with copper and fiber cabling.
Experience with patch panels and cable management.
Experience with rack and stack activities.
Experience with server and network hardware installation.
Ability to read rack elevations and network diagrams.
Experience using cable certification or testing tools is preferred.
Strong documentation and organizational skills.
Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds and working in data center environments.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel., * Experience supporting enterprise data centers with 100+ racks.
Knowledge of Cisco networking.
Knowledge of Juniper or Mist.
Knowledge of Fortinet.
Knowledge of VMware.
Knowledge of Windows Server environments.
Familiarity with IT asset management systems.
BICSI, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent certifications are a plus.
