Job description

The IT Support Specialist plays a key role in maintaining and improving St. Louis Life’s technical infrastructure while supporting the technology needs of both residents and staff. This position focuses on developing and implementing practical IT solutions, providing hands-on technical support, and delivering user-friendly training. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with patience, communication skills, and a genuine commitment to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through technology.

Specific Duties:

  1. Troubleshoot a variety of network, PC, phone, tablet, etc-based problems for both residents and staff.

  2. Familiarity with installation and maintenance of all hardware and software used by staff and residents.

  3. Assist with set-up, deployment, and maintenance of PC’s, network equipment, servers, etc.

Requirements

Minimum of one year of IT support experience or relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, MCSA, or CCENT (or equivalent demonstrable knowledge).

Experience with:

  • Networking and Wi-Fi systems
  • Windows 11 Pro and macOS
  • Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra
  • Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Sites, etc.)
  • Video editing tools (Canva, Adobe Premiere Elements)
  • Mailchimp and other cloud-based tools

Basic programming knowledge preferred (PowerShell, Bash, Python, JSON, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java).

Experience in working with and instructing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.

Skills Required:

  1. Strong critical thinking, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.

  2. Empathy and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

  3. Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
