The ideal candidate will have deep Linux infrastructure knowledge, experience administering BigFix for Unix platforms, and a proven ability to execute patching activities during planned maintenance windows while ensuring maximum system availability and security.

This position will require coverage over weekends and non-business hours to support planned maintenance. When not patching, this will be a M-5 business hour role.

Key Responsibilities

· Manage end-to-end operating system patching for RHEL 7, RHEL 8, RHEL 9, and AIX servers using IBM BigFix.

· Deploy security patches and emergency fixes in accordance with organizational patching SLAs and vulnerability remediation timelines.

· Configure, administer, and maintain BigFix content, Fixlets, baselines, actions, and reporting for Unix platforms.

· Integrate newly onboarded Unix systems into the BigFix infrastructure and ensure complete endpoint reporting and compliance.

· Monitor patch deployments, troubleshoot failures, and perform remediation to achieve high patch compliance across the environment.

· Generate compliance, vulnerability, and executive reporting using BigFix dashboards and reporting capabilities.

· Partner with Unix infrastructure, application, security, and operations teams to coordinate maintenance windows and minimize business impact.

· Perform root cause analysis for patch deployment issues and implement preventive improvements.

· Maintain patching documentation, standard operating procedures, and operational runbooks.

· Support automation initiatives to improve patch deployment efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Requirements

· Strong hands-on experience administering IBM BigFix for Unix/Linux environments.

· Proven experience patching RHEL 7, 8, and 9 servers using BigFix.

· Experience patching and maintaining IBM AIX systems.

· Strong understanding of Linux server infrastructure, operating systems, filesystems, networking, and system administration.

· Experience integrating Unix endpoints into BigFix and validating agent health, reporting, and compliance.

· Knowledge of enterprise vulnerability remediation processes and security best practices.

· Experience troubleshooting patch failures and resolving deployment issues.

· Strong scripting knowledge (Shell/Bash) is preferred.

· Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

· Experience with enterprise vulnerability management tools such as Qualys.

· Knowledge of ITIL processes, change management, and incident management.

· Experience working in highly regulated enterprise environments.

Working Conditions

· Must be flexible to work non-business hours, weekends, and scheduled maintenance windows to support production patching activities.

· Participate in planned and emergency patching (zero-day) events as required.

· Ability to support accelerated vulnerability remediation initiatives while maintaining high operational quality and compliance.

Success Measures

· Achieve and maintain patch compliance targets across Unix platforms.

· Meet enterprise vulnerability remediation SLAs.

· Ensure successful execution of maintenance windows with minimal production impact.

· Maintain accurate BigFix reporting and endpoint compliance.

· Contribute to improving automation, operational efficiency, and overall security posture.
