Unix Engineer - Bigfix

We are seeking an experienced Senior Unix Patch Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in IBM BigFix, Linux/RHEL, and AIX. The ideal candidate must have proven experience configuring, running, and maintaining Unix server patching using BigFix. This role requires flexibility to support weekend, night, and non-business-hour patching activities on a shift basis. Outside of scheduled patching and maintenance windows, the role will follow regular Monday Friday business hours. Top Skills

• Unix Server Patching, * Manage end-to-end operating system patching for RHEL 7, 8, 9 and AIX servers using IBM BigFix.
• Configure, administer, and maintain BigFix content, including Fixlets, Baselines, Actions, and reporting.
• Deploy security patches, emergency fixes, and zero-day remediation in accordance with patching SLAs and vulnerability remediation timelines.
• Onboard Unix/Linux systems into the BigFix infrastructure and ensure proper agent health, endpoint reporting, compliance, and connectivity.
• Monitor patch deployments, troubleshoot failures, and perform remediation to maintain high patch compliance.
• Generate patch compliance, vulnerability, and operational reports using BigFix dashboards and reporting tools.
• Coordinate with Unix infrastructure, application, security, and operations teams to schedule maintenance windows and minimize production impact.
• Perform root cause analysis for patch deployment issues and implement preventive improvements.
• Maintain patching documentation, SOPs, operational procedures, and runbooks.
• Support automation initiatives to improve patch deployment efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Participate in planned and emergency patching activities, including weekend and after-hours maintenance windows.

• Strong hands-on experience administering IBM BigFix in Unix/Linux environments.
• Proven experience patching RHEL 7, RHEL 8, and RHEL 9 using BigFix.
• Hands-on experience patching and maintaining IBM AIX systems.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix server infrastructure and system administration.
• Experience with BigFix Fixlets, Baselines, Actions, endpoint management, and reporting.
• Experience troubleshooting patch failures and resolving deployment issues.
• Knowledge of enterprise vulnerability remediation and patch management processes.
• Strong understanding of operating systems, filesystems, networking, and server administration.
• Experience validating BigFix agent health, endpoint reporting, and compliance.
• Shell/Bash scripting experience is preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with vulnerability management tools such as Qualys.
• Knowledge of ITIL, Change Management, and Incident Management processes.
• Experience working in large-scale or highly regulated enterprise environments.
• Experience supporting automation for patching and infrastructure operations.
