Job description
We are seeking a Technical Integration Program Manager to provide high-level oversight of initiatives within our Technical Road Map.
This is not a technical engineering position and is not a project manager position for the individual projects.
The successful candidate will maintain visibility across multiple technical initiatives, routinely engage with designated project leads, monitor progress against major milestones, identify projects that are stalled or require assistance, and provide concise status reporting to leadership.
The individual will not direct technical work or manage the day to day execution of projects. Each project lead remains responsible for their own project.
The Technical Integration Program Manager will ensure leadership can readily understand:
- What initiatives are underway.
- Who is responsible for each.
- Whether each initiative is progressing.
- What major milestone comes next.
- What issues are preventing progress.
- Where leadership attention or decisions are required.
Requirements
- Experience in program coordination, project oversight, operations, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and follow up skills.
- Ability to monitor multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical personnel.
- Ability to identify when work is progressing and when intervention may be required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to provide concise executive level status reporting.
- Sufficient technical literacy to understand the general purpose and relationships of technical initiatives without being a technical subject matter expert.
Experience working within technology, systems integration, software, hardware, defense, research and development, or similar environments is preferred but not required.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, persistent, comfortable working with technical personnel, and capable of maintaining accountability across multiple simultaneous initiatives without creating unnecessary administrative burden.
Core mission: ensure Technical Road Map project leads are moving their initiatives forward and ensure leadership knows when they are not.
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Reston, VA 20191
