Machine Learning Research Scientist

We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Research Scientist to support advanced research focused on AI/ML security, robustness, and real-world applications.

This role will lead research into vulnerabilities affecting AI and machine learning systems, develop defensive approaches, and help transition research into practical prototypes and solutions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and lead novel research in applied machine learning and artificial intelligence.
• Research vulnerabilities, threat models, and attack techniques affecting AI and ML algorithms.
• Develop and evaluate defenses and mitigations designed to improve the security and robustness of AI systems.
• Apply adversarial machine learning techniques to identify weaknesses and better understand the behavior of AI systems.
• Identify and evaluate emerging AI, machine learning, and adjacent technologies.
• Adapt existing research and develop new approaches to solve complex real-world technical challenges.
• Translate research findings into prototypes, tools, and operational capabilities.
• Develop evaluation methodologies to assess the effectiveness, reliability, and security of AI solutions.
• Lead technical research efforts and help establish project priorities, milestones, and overall research direction.
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers, software developers, researchers, technical leads, and other interdisciplinary teams.
• Work directly with government customers and stakeholders to understand technical challenges and develop potential solutions.
• Publish and present original research, technical findings, and other technical materials.
• Contribute to research proposals and help develop and pitch new research concepts.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Mentor junior researchers and technical team members.

• Strong background in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and applied research.
• Experience conducting and leading original technical research.
• Ability to take research from concept through experimentation and practical application.
• Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
• Experience publishing research or technical materials.
• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to meet applicable background investigation and U.S. government security clearance requirements
