Job description

The LMS Manager is responsible for the development, organization, maintenance, and quality assurance of online and blended courses within the institution’s Moodle-based Learning Management System (LMS). The position works closely with instructors and academic leadership to ensure that course shells, syllabi, instructional materials, quizzes, assignments, and other course components are complete, accurate, well-organized, and aligned with institutional academic standards., The LMS Manager also supervises and coordinates a support team responsible for assisting with course development, content entry, formatting, assessments, and ongoing LMS maintenance., * Create, configure, and maintain course shells in the institution’s Moodle-based LMS in accordance with the academic calendar and approved course schedules.

  • Meet individually with instructors, either in person or virtually, to review, develop, finalize, and organize course content.
  • Work with instructors to review and finalize course syllabi, learning objectives, course schedules, instructional resources, assignments, and assessment requirements.
  • Develop and enter course quizzes, assignments, discussion activities, and other assessments using approved textbooks, instructor resources, publisher materials, and other authorized instructional resources.
  • Ensure that course content is properly organized within Moodle and presented in a clear, consistent, and student-friendly format.
  • Coordinate the uploading and formatting of instructional materials, including syllabi, lecture materials, presentations, readings, videos, assignments, and other approved resources.
  • Review completed courses for accuracy, consistency, functionality, and compliance with institutional academic and instructional standards before courses are made available to students.
  • Maintain and update existing course shells based on instructor, academic department, curriculum, or institutional requirements.
  • Coordinate with instructors to make appropriate revisions to course materials while maintaining academic integrity and consistency.
  • Supervise, train, assign work to, and monitor the performance of LMS support staff assisting with course development and maintenance.
  • Establish workflows and deadlines for the LMS support team to ensure timely completion of course development and updates.
  • Conduct periodic quality-control reviews of courses and identify missing, outdated, or inconsistent content.
  • Assist instructors with basic Moodle functionality and provide guidance regarding the effective use of LMS tools.
  • Maintain appropriate records of course development, revisions, approvals, and completion status.
  • Collaborate with academic leadership, faculty, and administrative staff on LMS-related academic initiatives and projects.
  • Perform other duties related to LMS administration, course development, instructional technology, and academic operations as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in education, instructional technology, information technology, instructional design, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with Moodle or another Learning Management System required.
  • Experience in online course development, instructional design, academic technology, or educational administration preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty and academic administrators in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate a team and manage multiple course-development projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to academic quality and consistency.
