Job description
Are you a seasoned IT Support Specialist who thrives in fast-paced manufacturing and logistics environments? We are seeking a Senior Desktop Support Specialist to join our Management Information Systems (MIS) team on-site at our Piedmont facility. In this role, you will serve as the primary on-site technical expert, supporting everything from corporate office workstations to critical production line hardware and warehouse logistics equipment. You ll play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly, mentoring junior technicians, and driving infrastructure upgrade projects.
What You ll Be Doing
- On-Site & Production Support: Serve as the main point of contact and escalation point for technical issues across office spaces, distribution centers, and production floors.
- Hardware & Specialized Equipment: Provision, troubleshoot, and maintain desktops, laptops, mobile devices, Zebra/thermal printers, and handheld RF scanners.
- Systems & Endpoint Management: Deploy images, manage user access via Active Directory, and handle software patching using Intune, Automox, Lansweeper, and Soti MobiControl.
- Network & VoIP: Resolve connectivity issues (VPN, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi) and support Avaya VoIP desk phones and softphones.
- Project Leadership: Help lead workstation refreshes, office expansions, and site-wide technology rollouts.
- Mentorship: Act as a technical lead and guide junior desktop support staff.
Requirements
- Education: Associate s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on desktop/IT support in an enterprise environment.
- Environment Match: Proven experience supporting IT infrastructure in a manufacturing, plant, or warehouse environment (RF devices, thermal printers, production line connectivity).
Technical Stack:
- Strong proficiency with Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint).
- Experience with Active Directory, network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and Jira (or similar ITSM tools).
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for basic operational automation.
- Physical Capability: Ability to move freely across large plant/warehouse facilities and lift up to 30 lbs of IT equipment.
Nice-to-Haves / Certifications
- Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft MD-102, or ITIL Foundation.
- Hands-on experience with Soti MobiControl, Automox, or Lansweeper.
- Background supporting Avaya VoIP phone deployments.
