Job description

Guided by values of respect, compassion, service and community, the Resident Life Coordinator enhances quality of life through meaningful engagement, wellness, growth and social connection while promoting dignity, purpose and fulfillment for every Sister resident., Responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing resident-centered activities, educational programming, wellness opportunities and enrichment programs for Sister Residents while collaborating with Nursing, Pastoral Care, families, volunteers and the interdisciplinary team., * Foster and affirm the mission and values of the Sisters of St. Francis.

  • Develop, coordinate and implement robust activity programming for all Sister Residents.
  • Coordinate services and activities both on and off campus.
  • Implement wellness opportunities based on Sister residents’ abilities.
  • Communicate with each Sister at least weekly by including them in an activity, a conversation in the dining area or a one-on-one discussion regarding the need of the Sister.
  • Coordinate weekly coffee clutch sessions. Inclusive of all Sisters and encourages open communication, exchange of ideas and sharing about current events.
  • Assist with family visits, resident correspondence and province activities.
  • Collaborates with the Administrative Team and other Health Center staff in meeting the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual needs of all sister residents.
  • Develop and distribute monthly activity calendars and communicate changes promptly.
  • Manage volunteers and community visitors.
  • Maintain documentation of Sister resident participation and preferences.
  • Responsible for planning, purchasing/ordering items needed for activities ahead of time, may work with Resident Life Aide as necessary.
  • Participates in monthly community meetings with the sisters, monthly administrative team meetings, and any other meetings deemed necessary by the nursing manager/administrator.
  • Assists Pastoral Care Coordinator with logistics of retreats and other spiritual activities.
  • Support HIPAA compliance, resident rights, and confidentiality.
  • Maintain safety, infection prevention, and emergency preparedness practices.
  • Distribute mail and assist Sisters with correspondence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by nursing manager/administrator.

Performance Expectations

  • Publish monthly activity calendar on time.
  • Maintain weekly meaningful contact with each resident.
  • Promote participation and Sister resident satisfaction.
  • Prepare activities and supplies in advance.
  • Communicate schedule changes with at least 24 hours notice when possible.
  • Support Sister residents with physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.

Budget Responsibilities

  • Monitor expenditures and maintain receipts.
  • Obtain required approvals for purchases.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Identify cost-effective programming opportunities and partnerships., * Maintain valid NYS driver license and acceptable driving record.
  • Safely transport residents when assigned.
  • Assist residents entering and exiting vehicles.
  • Secure mobility devices appropriately.

Requirements

· Experience planning creative recreational, educational and spiritual activities preferred.· Ability to work with older adults and varying levels of cognitive impairment.· Strong planning, organizational, and budgeting skills.· Excellent communication and listening skills.· Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel proficiency.· Ability to create calendars, flyers, and newsletters.· Flexibility with work schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required., · High School Diploma or GED required.· Associate degree in Recreation, Gerontology, Social Work or related field preferred.· Experience in long-term care, senior services or related setting preferred.· Valid New York State driver license required.· Ability to meet physical demands of position and utilize safe body mechanics.
