Job description

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That’s what makes us Roche.

In this role, you will lead instrumentation software development for digital pathology solutions that directly transform patient diagnostics. You will join a dynamic, collaborative team in designing and building scalable applications-from initial concept and backend logic to UI and full end-to-end system integration.

The Opportunity

  • Lead software development and integration efforts for complex digital pathology instrumentation and robotic systems.
  • Design and maintain elegant, scalable code using C#, C/C++, .NET, and Linux for both backend logic and user interface layers.
  • Develop and execute unit, subsystem, and integration testing to ensure high product quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate within an Agile environment with solution architects, hardware engineers, and software leads to translate business requirements into robust technical reality.
  • Mentor and guide fellow engineers, fostering technical growth and sharing best practices across multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Drive technical innovation by prototyping new software systems and leveraging shared architecture components across solutions.

Requirements

  • You hold a BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • You have 6 years of medical hardware device and/or diagnostics instrument experience
  • You have 6+ years of technical knowledge of C#, C/C++, Linux, .NET, Angular, and distributed systems or robotics.
  • You have 3 years of firmware development (C/C++)
  • You have a proven track record of taking software projects from idea to final release using solid system design principles.
  • You are familiar with modern development methodologies, such as the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or Scrum.
  • You excel at explaining technical concepts, mentoring team members, and working effectively with diverse stakeholders across engineering disciplines.

About the company

Together, more than 100’000 employees across the globe are dedicated to advance science, ensuring everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Our efforts result in more than 26 million people treated with our medicines and over 30 billion tests conducted using our Diagnostics products. We empower each other to explore new possibilities, foster creativity, and keep our ambitions high, so we can deliver life-changing healthcare solutions that make a global impact.

Let’s build a healthier future, together.
