Job description

The IT Systems Administrator manages, maintains, and secures the district’s core technology infrastructure, including networking, database management, hardware, telecommunications, and server systems. Working directly under the Director of Future Ready Learning, this role supervises daily operations with district technicians and interns, collaborates with school staff, and serves as a technical leader to ensure reliable network performance and data integrity across the district., Network & Security Administration: Engineer, monitor, and support district networks (fiber, Cisco switching, wireless, VPN), Active Directory, Google GSuite Enterprise, Windows domains, content filtering, and network security.

Database & Systems Operations: Write SQL scripts for data synchronization and automation; maintain database integrations (Skyward, SMS); manage automated file server and application backups.

Infrastructure & Hardware Management: Oversee servers, virtual environments (VMware ESXi/vCenter), phone systems, print services, and device connectivity (HVAC, security cameras, time clocks).

Team Supervision & Support: Help supervise district technicians and interns, provide high-level troubleshooting support, manage hardware inventories, and interface with external vendors.

Requirements

Education: Associate degree or higher in Networking, Computer Technologies, or a related field. Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in Windows OS/Server, Active Directory, macOS, iOS, Chrome OS, VMware ESXi/vCenter, and basic SQL scripting. Preferred Experience: Cisco switching/wireless protocols and prior IT experience within a school district setting.

Requirements:

Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and work in varying environments (indoor/outdoor, confined spaces).

Key Competencies Excellent technical troubleshooting, organizational, and data privacy skills. Strong written and verbal communication for collaborating with administrators, staff, and external vendors. Dependable, adaptable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
