WMATA Senior Network Engineer (809046)

Installs networking technologies and supporting networks. Assesses existing network configurations and makes recommendations based on product specifications.

• Provide a Senior Network Engineer responsible for implementation, configuration, operation, and support of network infrastructure
• Execute deployment, configuration, and optimization of:
• LAN/WAN infrastructure (core, distribution, access layers)
• Wireless networks and connectivity solutions
• Firewalls, VPNs, network security controls, and segmentation technologies
• Load-balancing and application delivery platforms, including high-availability configurations, traffic management policies, and failover services
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for network incidents, outages, and performance degradation
• Support 24×7 NOC operations through:
• Monitoring, alert triage, and incident response
• Escalation handling and coordination with Tier 3 engineering
• Configure, validate, and maintain routing, segmentation, firewall, VPN, and load-balancing policies aligned with architecture standards.
• Collaborate on firewall rule changes, security zone configurations, NAT policies, VPN services, and segmentation controls with DMCS in accordance with approved change management processes.
• Perform validation and testing of firewall failover, VPN resiliency, routing convergence, load-balancer high-availability configurations, and application traffic flows.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, including topology diagrams, configurations, and inventory records
• Support performance monitoring and SLA compliance, including latency, throughput, uptime, and availability metrics
• Coordinate with telecommunications, cloud, and infrastructure teams for cross-domain issue resolution
• Responsible for:
• QoS engineering responsibility
• Call quality dependency
• Circuit / routing coordination

Certifications for: CCIE, CCIE security, CISSP, JNCIP, and TOGAF (One or more)
