Core Systems Specialist

The Systems Specialist I provides technical support and assists with the development, maintenance, and enhancement of systems within TLC’s core processing environment. The role works primarily with our Symitar/Episys Core and related applications, supporting programs, reports, integrations, automated processes, and data needs across the organization.

This position works closely with internal departments, other technology team members, and vendor partners to help ensure our systems are reliable, accurate, secure, and meeting the evolving needs of the Credit Union.

This position is approved for remote/hybrid work.

What You’ll Do

As a Systems Specialist I, you will:

• Provide day-to-day support for the Credit Union’s Core System, related applications, and integrated platforms.
• Assist with the maintenance and modification of Symitar PowerOn programs, batch processes, scripts, and automations.
• Support recurring and ad-hoc reporting needs, including report generation, data extracts, and data validation.
• Assist with automated workflows, system notifications, interfaces, and batch processing activities.
• Troubleshoot routine system and application issues and escalate more complex problems when appropriate.
• Participate in system upgrades, testing, validation, conversions, and implementation activities.
• Assist with interfaces and integrations between the Core System and other platforms.
• Support document imaging and related operational systems through routine maintenance and user support.
• Participate in month-end, quarter-end, year-end, and other special processing activities as needed.
• Maintain technical documentation, procedures, checklists, change records, and incident documentation.
• Follow established change-management, data governance, security, and risk-management procedures.
• Help internal teams understand system functionality and technical concepts in clear, business-focused language.
• Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery exercises.
• Participate in after-hours support as needed for scheduled maintenance and system incidents., A successful Systems Specialist I:
• Delivers accurate and reliable programs, reports, automations, and system support.
• Follows strong testing, documentation, security, and change-control practices.
• Responds to system and user needs in a timely and professional manner.
• Helps improve efficiency and reduce manual processes through effective use of technology.
• Maintains the accuracy, security, and confidentiality of Credit Union systems and data.
• Builds strong working relationships with both technical and business teams.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, technically curious, and comfortable learning complex systems. You should enjoy investigating problems, understanding how systems and data work together, and finding ways technology can make processes more efficient., * 1-3 years of related experience in systems development, core processing, enterprise systems administration, application support, or a related technical field.

• Experience with scripting or programming languages such as PowerOn, SQL, JavaScript, or comparable development tools.
• Experience troubleshooting software, applications, hardware, or system-related issues.
• Experience supporting production systems or technology environments.
• Experience with Symitar/Episys or another financial institution core processing system is preferred.
• Financial institution experience is preferred.
• Experience supporting data and reporting environments is a plus.

Education

• Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related technical discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience.
