Job description

Liberty Turned Components is looking for a highly organized, technically minded individual to join our team in a unique role combining quality engineering, quality systems management, continuous improvement, customer communication, and manufacturing technology.

The primary focus of this position will be to help maintain and continuously improve quality throughout our manufacturing operation. This includes supporting our ISO 9001 Quality Management System, coordinating audits, managing quality documentation and corrective actions, working with customers on quality-related matters, and identifying opportunities to improve our processes and systems.

We have experienced quality personnel who handle much of the day-to-day shop-floor inspection, first article inspection, and production quality activity. This position will work closely with those team members while focusing more heavily on the overall quality system, problem solving, documentation, customer requirements, and continuous improvement side of the operation.

Another significant part of the position will involve helping us continue to develop and improve LibertyNet, our internally developed manufacturing management system. LibertyNet is being built to better integrate production, quality, scheduling, documentation, reporting, and other manufacturing functions.

Programming experience is not required. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with technology, learns quickly, is highly organized, and is interested in using modern tools-including AI-to solve problems, improve processes, analyze information, and automate repetitive work.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys manufacturing and quality but also has an interest in technology and improving the systems behind how a manufacturing company operates.

Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Systems & Continuous Improvement

  • Help administer, maintain, and continuously improve our ISO 9001 Quality Management System
  • Coordinate and prepare for ISO 9001 surveillance and recertification audits
  • Conduct and coordinate internal audits and follow up on resulting actions
  • Maintain quality procedures, work instructions, forms, records, and other controlled documentation
  • Manage corrective actions, root-cause investigations, and continuous improvement projects
  • Work with production and shop-floor quality personnel to identify and address recurring quality issues
  • Analyze quality and production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Help develop more effective and standardized quality processes throughout the company
  • Support PPAPs, First Article Inspections, control plans, inspection requirements, and other customer-specific quality requirements
  • Help ensure customer and internal quality requirements are properly communicated and documented

Customer Quality & Coordination

  • Serve as a point of contact for customer quality and technical matters
  • Prepare and coordinate responses to customer quality concerns, corrective actions, and documentation requests
  • Coordinate information between customers, production, quality, engineering, and management
  • Track open quality issues and ensure corrective actions are completed in a timely manner
  • Help identify systemic solutions to quality problems rather than simply addressing individual occurrences

Manufacturing Systems & Technology

  • Work directly with company leadership to continue developing and improving LibertyNet, our internal manufacturing management platform
  • Help translate real-world production and quality needs into practical digital workflows and tools
  • Identify opportunities to digitize, simplify, or automate existing manufacturing and administrative processes
  • Test new LibertyNet features and provide feedback from a manufacturing and quality perspective
  • Help organize and maintain manufacturing data and digital documentation
  • Use modern AI tools to assist with data analysis, documentation, problem solving, process improvement, and system development
  • Help further integrate production, quality, scheduling, reporting, and documentation into a unified manufacturing system

Engineering Documentation - Preferred, but Not Required

Depending on the candidate’s experience, this position may also assist with:

  • Maintaining and updating manufacturing prints and technical documentation
  • Organizing drawing revisions and engineering change documentation
  • Helping ensure current prints, specifications, and inspection requirements are available to production
  • Creating or updating basic manufacturing drawings and related documentation
  • Supporting document and revision control within the Quality Management System

Requirements

Experience with CAD or manufacturing drawings would be a valuable bonus but is not required for the position.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, technologically curious, and comfortable taking ownership of projects. We are particularly interested in someone who can look at an existing process, understand why it works the way it does, and then help develop a better and more reliable way of doing it.

You do not need to be a software developer. However, you should be comfortable learning new software and using technology and AI as everyday tools for solving problems and improving how work gets done., * Experience in manufacturing quality, engineering, quality systems, or a related technical environment

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or another formal Quality Management System
  • Experience with internal or external quality audits
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable communicating directly with customers regarding quality and technical matters
  • Experience with corrective actions and root-cause analysis
  • Familiarity with PPAPs, First Articles, control plans, inspection plans, or similar manufacturing quality processes
  • Strong general computer skills and an interest in learning new technologies
  • Comfortable using AI tools as part of everyday work
  • Ability to analyze problems and independently develop practical solutions
  • Experience with ERP, QMS, MES, SPC, database, or manufacturing management systems is a plus
  • CAD, blueprint, or engineering documentation experience is a plus
  • Software development or programming experience is a plus, but not required
  • An engineering or technical degree is helpful, but relevant manufacturing and quality experience may substitute for formal education

Who Would Be a Great Fit?

This position would be particularly well suited to someone with a background in manufacturing quality or engineering who also tends to be the person who enjoys organizing information, improving processes, learning new technology, building better spreadsheets or systems, and finding ways to eliminate repetitive work.

We are looking for someone who can be equally comfortable working through an ISO audit, investigating a customer quality issue, reviewing production data, and sitting down with management to figure out how technology could make a process work better.
