Job description
Data Enablement Engineer supports the onboarding, adoption, and effective use of enterprise data ingestion and transformation platforms. This role helps teams understand how to use approved platform capabilities, follow standard patterns, prepare for onboarding, and access the right support channels.
The role is technical in orientation but not primarily a coding role. The associate will work closely with platform engineering, data owners, analysts, data engineers, governance partners, and business stakeholders to convert platform capabilities into clear documentation, training, operating guidance, and adoption support.
This role requires practical experience in enterprise technology or data platform environments, strong communication skills, and the ability to bridge technical platform details with user needs.
What You’ll Do
Platform Onboarding & User Enablement
-
Support onboarding activities for teams using enterprise data ingestion and transformation platforms.
-
Create and maintain enablement materials such as usage guides, onboarding checklists, FAQs, access guidance, training decks, and support documentation.
-
Help users understand approved platform patterns for ingestion, transformation, data quality, lineage, access, and consumption.
-
Coordinate with platform engineering and operations teams to keep documentation aligned with current platform capabilities and known constraints.
Stakeholder Support & Coordination
-
Facilitate working sessions with source-system teams, data engineering teams, analytics teams, and AI/ML consumers to understand onboarding needs and platform questions.
-
Capture requirements, blockers, open questions, and user feedback, then route them to the appropriate platform, governance, security, or operations partners.
-
Support communication of platform readiness, support paths, release constraints, and operating expectations to users.
-
Help maintain clear status tracking for onboarding activities, documentation updates, and outstanding issues.
Data Platform Knowledge Application
-
Apply working knowledge of enterprise data concepts including ingestion patterns, data pipelines, medallion layers, metadata, data quality, access controls, lineage, and analytics consumption.
-
Help users understand how data moves from source systems into landing, bronze, silver, and gold layers and what preparation is required at each stage.
-
Identify usability gaps, recurring questions, and documentation opportunities that improve the platform experience.
-
Support functional validation of onboarding flows, training content, and user guidance.
Governance & Operational Readiness Support
-
Help teams understand governance-by-design expectations, data classification, access management, lineage, data quality, and audit-related responsibilities.
-
Work with governance, privacy, security, risk, and architecture partners to ensure enablement content reflects approved enterprise guidance.
-
Escalate control, support, ownership, or readiness issues that may affect onboarding or platform adoption.
-
Maintain practical operating guidance so users know where to go for access, support, issue escalation, and platform questions.
Metrics & Continuous Improvement
-
Track enablement activities, onboarding progress, documentation usage, user feedback, and recurring support themes.
-
Prepare concise status updates and insights for senior managers and platform leaders.
-
Continuously improve guides, checklists, training assets, and stakeholder communications based on feedback and actual platform usage.
-
Document repeatable patterns and lessons learned to improve future onboarding waves.
Requirements
-
5+ years of experience in enterprise technology, data platforms, systems analysis, platform enablement, data engineering support, analytics enablement, or related roles.
-
Experience working with enterprise data platforms, data ingestion, data transformation, analytical reporting, or governed data delivery programs.
-
Working understanding of data lakes/lakehouses, Databricks or similar platforms, cloud storage, metadata, data quality, lineage, access control, and medallion architecture concepts.
-
Strong ability to translate technical concepts into clear user-facing guidance, documentation, and training materials.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical audiences.
-
Ability to coordinate across platform engineering, data governance, security, operations, business, and analytics stakeholders.
-
Comfortable supporting technical platform adoption without being expected to own day-to-day coding or application development.
Preferred
-
Experience with Azure Databricks, ADLS, Unity Catalog, data catalogs, data quality tooling, lineage, or orchestration platforms.
-
Experience in financial services or regulated enterprise data environments.
-
Experience creating training materials, user guides, support documentation, or onboarding content.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
-
Spanish fluency is an asset.
