The Lead Release Train Engineer (RTE) serves as the Agile execution leader responsible for coordinating delivery activities across multiple Agile Release Trains supporting approximately twenty cross-functional development, integration, testing, operations, and sustainment teams delivering mission-critical ground system capabilities. This position helps establish execution standards, planning discipline, dependency management processes, and program-level execution visibility.

The RTE team partners closely with product owners, systems engineering, operations, and program leadership to ensure alignment between priorities, commitments, dependencies, and delivery objectives across the program.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Establish and maintain Agile execution standards, governance processes, and best practices across the program.
  • Coordinate Program Increment (PI) planning activities across multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and teams.
  • Facilitate identification, management, and resolution of cross-team dependencies, execution risks, and delivery impediments.
  • Drive synchronization across development, integration, testing, deployment, operations, and sustainment organizations.
  • Ensure Agile execution data, workflows, and planning artifacts within Jira accurately reflect program status and commitments.
  • Support configuration management and governance of the technical execution baseline maintained within Jira.
  • Develop and maintain program-level execution metrics, delivery reporting, forecasting, and program health assessments.
  • Monitor team execution performance, capacity utilization, commitment achievement, and delivery trends.
  • Partner with product owners and systems engineering to ensure priorities and execution plans remain aligned with program objectives.
  • Facilitate Agile leadership forums, Scrum of Scrums, ART synchronization activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Escalate significant execution risks, dependency concerns, schedule impacts, and resource constraints to program leadership.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience serving as an RTE within a SAFe or large-scale Agile environment
  • Experience leading PI planning activities, managing cross-team dependencies, and coordinating delivery across multiple Agile teams
  • Experience developing Agile execution metrics, delivery reporting, forecasting, and program health assessments
  • Experience utilizing Jira to support Agile planning, execution, reporting, workflow management, and technical baseline governance
  • Knowledge of ART operations, dependency management, risk management, and large-scale Agile execution
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience supporting large-scale Agile software, systems engineering, or operational programs, or 9+ years of experience supporting large-scale Agile software, systems engineering, or operational programs in lieu of degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience supporting operationally critical systems, government programs, or mission-focused environments
  • Experience supporting development and operations (DevOps) or operations and maintenance (O&M) environments
  • Possession of excellent facilitation, communication, organizational, and stakeholder engagement skills
