Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our managed network services team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in enterprise networking, Cisco routing and switching, SD-WAN, managed firewalls, network edge technologies, and network security. This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, troubleshooting, optimizing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure. The engineer will work directly with customers to resolve complex network issues, perform break/fix activities, implement network changes, and provide recommendations to improve network performance, security, and reliability. The successful candidate should be comfortable working in a 24x7 managed services environment, participating in an on-call rotation, and handling customer-impacting incidents with a strong sense of ownership., * Design, implement, configure, and support enterprise network infrastructure.

  • Configure and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and network edge devices.
  • Support and troubleshoot SD-WAN environments and managed network edge solutions.
  • Provide rapid break/fix and incident resolution for customer network issues.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving routing, switching, connectivity, VPN, security, and network performance.
  • Configure and maintain enterprise firewall and security policies.
  • Work with technologies such as Fortinet, Cisco, Meraki, and comparable networking platforms.
  • Perform network assessments to identify performance, capacity, availability, and configuration gaps.
  • Design and maintain network architecture and technical documentation.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate security, connectivity, and access parameters.
  • Test, tune, and optimize network security devices and systems.
  • Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols, network services, and communications technologies.
  • Support enterprise Wi-Fi/WLAN environments as required.
  • Provide secondary support for Cisco Umbrella and Cisco Duo.
  • Participate in network implementation activities from planning through deployment and operational handover . * Analyze recurring incidents and recommend permanent corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with internal engineering, security, service delivery, and customer teams.
  • Communicate technical issues, root causes, resolutions, and recommendations clearly to customers and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate incident, change, configuration, and network documentation.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to critical customer incidents outside standard business hours.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VLANs, subnetting, NAT, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and related networking concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches.
  • Strong knowledge of routing and switching technologies.
  • Experience with routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex enterprise network connectivity issues.

SD-WAN & Network Edge

  • Hands-on experience with SD-WAN technologies.
  • Experience supporting managed network edge environments.
  • Understanding of WAN connectivity, overlays, underlays, tunnels, and traffic routing.
  • Experience troubleshooting SD-WAN performance and connectivity issues.

Firewalls & Network Security

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise firewalls such as Fortinet FortiGate, Cisco Firepower/ASA, Meraki, or equivalent platforms.
  • Knowledge of firewall policies, NAT, VPN, access control, and security configurations.
  • Understanding of IDS/IPS and network security principles. * Experience troubleshooting security-related connectivity issues.

Additional Technologies Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

  • Cisco Umbrella
  • Cisco Duo
  • Cisco Meraki
  • Enterprise Wi-Fi/WLAN
  • Network monitoring and management platforms
  • VPN technologies * Network automation/configuration tools Certifications Relevant industry certifications are highly preferred, including:
  • Cisco CCNA / CCNP
  • Fortinet certifications * Cisco Meraki certifications
  • Other relevant networking or security certifications Equivalent hands-on experience may be considered in place of specific certifications

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Comfortable with direct customer interaction.
  • Strong incident ownership and problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple incidents and customer requests.
  • Willingness to work in a 24x7 support/on-call environment.
  • Strong documentation and technical reporting skills. Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5-10 years of hands-on network engineering experience. * Significant experience supporting enterprise or managed-service network environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with network design, implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization. Preferred Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will have: * 5-10 years of enterprise network engineering experience * Strong Cisco routing and switching expertise
  • Hands-on SD-WAN experience * Experience with Fortinet, Cisco, or Meraki firewalls * Managed network services / managed network edge experience * Strong network security fundamentals * Experience with Cisco Umbrella, Cisco Duo, and/or enterprise Wi-Fi * Customer-facing troubleshooting experience * Relevant Cisco/Fortinet/Meraki certifications * Experience handling critical incidents and participating in an on-call rotation Role Focus: Enterprise Networking Cisco SD-WAN Firewalls Managed Network Services Network Security Network Edge Customer Support Troubleshooting
