Job description

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist / ML-NLP Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting the DCRS Inbound Correspondence function. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in machine learning, NLP, Gen AI open-source models, and software engineering and a proven ability to design, build, and maintain document capture applications and enterprise-scale ML/NLP solutions., * Design, develop, and maintain ML/NLP models for document capture and processing.

  • Build supervised and unsupervised pipelines including data cleaning, analytics, feature creation, model selection, and ensemble methods.
  • Implement performance metrics, model evaluation, and visualization for model monitoring.
  • Engineer scalable solutions for large structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Apply Gen AI and open-source models where appropriate to enhance document intelligence.
  • Leverage OCR technologies for text extraction and downstream NLP tasks.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or in related roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Deep understanding and hands-on exposure to Gen AI open-source models.
  • 5+ years of programming experience in software development and Agile processes.
  • 5+ years of Python (or equivalent) for building and deploying ML/NLP models.
  • Experience setting up supervised and unsupervised ML/NLP models, including data cleaning, analytics, feature engineering, model selection, ensemble methods, and performance visualization.
  • Experience with ML/NLP pipelines for large structured and unstructured datasets.
  • 2+ years designing and developing enterprise-scale ML/NLP solutions such as NER, document classification, summarization, topic modeling, dialog systems, sentiment analysis, and OCR text processing.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with OCR products.

Preferred Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Experience collaborating with partners and stakeholders across multiple lines of business.
  • Ability to navigate enterprise data assets across functions.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical problem-solving with a client-focused approach.
