Job description

  • Import, cleanse, validate, and analyze large and complex datasets from upstream oil & gas operations.
  • Interpret data to identify trends, insights, and opportunities to improve operational performance.
  • Design and develop data visualizations, dashboards, and reports using Power BI and/or Spotfire.
  • Consolidate and present findings through charts, graphs, and tables for business stakeholders.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity while continuously improving data quality processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Utilize advanced SQL to extract, manipulate, and analyze structured datasets.
  • Support data engineering and analytics workflows when needed (Databricks, Python - if applicable)
  • Communicate insights clearly through both written reports and verbal presentations.

Requirements

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst with strong experience in the Upstream Oil & Gas domain, specifically within Drilling & Completions datasets.
  • This role is responsible for transforming raw data into actionable insights through advanced data analysis, reporting, and visualization.
  • The ideal candidate will have expertise in SQL and either Power BI or Spotfire (experience in both is a strong plus), along with a strong foundation in data handling and quality improvement.
  • This is a senior-level contractor role requiring minimal supervision and a high degree of technical proficiency and business acumen., * Strong experience in Upstream Oil & Gas, specifically Drilling & Completions datasets.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience in report generation and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Databricks and/or Python.
  • Background in data engineering or workflow automation.
  • Professional certifications in data analytics or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience with either Power BI or Spotfire (both preferred)
