Job description

The Space and Geophysics Laboratory (SGL) delivers multi-platform software suites to government customers for multiple and varied applications, from real-time data-intensive network operations to standalone remote field systems, in both Linux and Windows environments. We are seeking a developer with a solid understanding of object-oriented design, databases, and data structures to join our team. As a member of the team you will be designing, implementing and maintaining software using C++. Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed software design in a team environment
  • Perform implementation from detailed design
  • Perform unit, regression, and integration testing as appropriate
  • Create/maintain application documentation
  • Other related functions as assigned, The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length., Employees may be required to report violations of law under Title IX and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). If this position is identified a Campus Security Authority (Clery Act), you will be notified and provided resources for reporting. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other applied science.
  • Three or more years of experience as a C++ developer in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with Python and the Numpy / Scipy stacks.
  • Thorough understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Ability to debug software at all stages of development life cycle.
  • Experience in Object-Oriented design and multi-threaded programming.

US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position. Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics
  • Eight or more years professional experience as a software developer
  • Experience with database application development
  • Eight or more years developing C++ applications
  • Demonstrated experience with object-oriented design and methodologies
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS)

$104,000-$174,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications. Working Conditions
