Job description
We are looking for an experienced Workday HCM Administrator to join our HR Technology team in Nashville.
This role owns the day-to-day health, configuration, and continuous improvement of our Workday HCM environment, partnering closely with HR, Payroll, and business stakeholders to deliver a best-in-class employee and manager experience.
What You’ll Do
Core HCM Configuration & Administration
Own configuration and ongoing maintenance across the full Workday HCM suite including Core HR, Recruiting, Onboarding, Compensation, Benefits, Talent & Performance, and Learning
Manage business process frameworks, condition rules, approval workflows, notifications, and validations across all HCM modules
Administer and maintain Workday security - role-based and user-based security groups, domain security policies, and business process security
Support bi-annual Workday release cycles - assess feature impact, coordinate regression testing, and deploy updates with minimal disruption
Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues across HR, Payroll, and business teams, serving as the primary escalation point for HCM-related support
Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking & Time Off (PATT)
Configure and maintain Workday Payroll - pay groups, pay periods, earnings and deductions, tax elections, payroll processing, and off-cycle runs
Own Absence Management configuration - leave types, accrual plans, leave of absence policies, and eligibility rules
Configure and maintain Time Tracking - time entry methods, time entry templates, worktags, approvals, and integrations with Payroll
Manage Time Off configuration - time off plans, accrual calculations, carryover rules, and balance reporting
Partner with Payroll and HR Operations to ensure PATT configurations are accurate, compliant, and aligned with company policy and regulatory requirements
Troubleshoot PATT-related issues and ensure data flows correctly between Time Tracking, Absence, and Payroll
Reporting & Analytics
Design, build, and maintain Workday reports including Standard, Advanced, Matrix, and Composite report types across HCM and PATT modules
Develop calculated fields, dashboards, and Worklets to support HR, Payroll, and leadership visibility into workforce and payroll metrics
Support data audits and ensure accuracy and integrity across the Workday HCM environment
Deliver ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed by HR and business stakeholders
Integrations & Data Management
Support integrations between Workday and third-party systems including benefits carriers, payroll tax vendors, time and attendance platforms, and HRIS tools
Manage EIB and iLoad data uploads for employee data, compensation changes, and historical conversions
Ensure data governance standards are maintained across the Workday HCM data model
Stakeholder Partnership & Continuous Improvement
Serve as the primary Workday HCM resource for HR, Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, and business stakeholders
Gather and document business requirements, translating them into effective Workday configuration solutions
Deliver end-user training, job aids, and system documentation to support adoption and self-service capabilities
Proactively identify opportunities to improve system efficiency, automate manual processes, and enhance the employee experience
Partner with IT and third-party vendors on system enhancements and integration projects
Requirements
4-7 years of hands-on Workday HCM configuration experience
Demonstrated configuration experience across the Workday HCM suite including Core HR, Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Talent & Performance, and Learning
Deep understanding of Workday business process framework, condition rules, and security administration
Experience building Advanced and Composite Workday reports and calculated fields
Solid understanding of HR and Payroll processes, compliance requirements, and the employee lifecycle
Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, able to work directly with HR, Payroll, and business stakeholders effectively
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Workday HCM Pro certification in one or more modules (HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, or Absence)
Experience supporting a Workday HCM implementation or major module deployment
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
