Job description
The GIS & Project Tracking Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate project mapping, tracking, and reporting systems to support roadway construction operations. This role works closely with project managers, field supervisors, and crews to collect, analyze, and manage project data, ensuring accurate documentation, progress tracking, and compliance with project requirements., * Create, update, and maintain digital maps for roadway construction projects.
- Track pavement markings, traffic control devices, signs, and other project assets.
- Collect, verify, and manage field data using GPS technology, mapping software, and project documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of project locations, quantities, schedules, and completion status.
- Generate maps, reports, dashboards, and other visual data for project managers and field supervisors.
- Assist with tracking labor, equipment, and materials assigned to projects.
- Review project plans and specifications to ensure mapping and tracking data aligns with contract requirements.
- Monitor project progress and update tracking systems as work is completed.
- Coordinate with field personnel to resolve discrepancies involving maps, quantities, locations, or project records.
- Support project documentation requirements for billing, audits, customer reporting, and compliance purposes.
- Maintain electronic databases and ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
- Prepare reports, summaries, and performance metrics for management review.
- Assist with inventory tracking of signs, traffic control devices, and pavement marking materials.
- Conduct field verification visits as needed.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve issues as they arise.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and standards.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, attention to detail, adaptability, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Requirements
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and at least three (3) years of experience using Microsoft Office applications preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Associate degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of process improvement methodologies and industry best practices is preferred.
- Experience with mapping software, GPS technology, construction tracking systems, or related applications is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with field and office personnel.
