Job description

Experteer Overview In this role you will design and operate governance platforms to keep AI/ML systems in healthcare safe, compliant, and transparent. You will bridge AI engineering, legal compliance, and ethics, shaping scalable monitoring, auditing, and guardrails across the product lifecycle. You’ll lead cross-functional efforts to enforce HIPAA and data boundaries while improving reliability and security of integrations. This is a high-impact, mission-driven opportunity to advance trustworthy AI in elder care at SCAN. Compensation / Benefits * Design and maintain enterprise AI governance platforms with model lineage, bias detection, drift monitoring, and compliance auditing * Create deterministic guardrails for autonomous AI agents respecting HIPAA controls and data boundaries * Set engineering standards and best practices for reproducible ML and responsible AI deployment * Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and architecture direction for AI safety initiatives * Contribute to the integration platform by improving architecture, tools, and technologies * Improve production reliability by identifying bottlenecks and resolving integration issues * Ensure healthcare compliance and security (HIPAA, HL7, FHIR) in all work and collaborate with security teams * Partner with Legal, Compliance, Security, Data Privacy, and AI Research to translate regulatory requirements into automated solutions * Oversee vendor assessment and risk management and secure LLM integrations Tasks * 8+ years of professional software engineering experience * 3+ years focused on production ML systems, MLOps, or AI safety infrastructure * Proven architectural decision-making in enterprise-scale environments * Proficiency in Python and at least one systems language (Go, Java, C++) * Strong understanding of LLM architectures, transformers, and retrieval-augmented generation * Experience building tools to redact/anonymize PHI before external LLM APIs * Familiarity with LLM security vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10 for LLMs) * Experience adapting commercial AI models (OpenAI, Anthropic) into healthcare workflows safely Key requirements * Base salary 106,200-182,983 USD * Annual bonus program * Wellness program * Generous PTO * 11 paid holidays + 1 floating holiday + birthday off + 2 volunteer days * 401(k) with employer match
