Job description

Iron Vale Studios creates large-scale interactive worlds and invests deeply in robust online technology that can support systemic gameplay at scale. Our engineering teams work closely with design and content disciplines to build networked features that are responsive, reliable, and maintainable across long development cycles., * Architect and refine multiplayer systems in partnership with other engineers

  • Work closely with designers, artists, and other disciplines to deliver gameplay-supporting online features
  • Write technical design documentation and carry implementation through to completion
  • Develop clear, maintainable, portable C++ code for real-time systems
  • Test, profile, and refine systems throughout development
  • Estimate work accurately and deliver against agreed schedules
  • Improve reliability and performance across networked gameplay components
  • Support messaging architectures and other client/server interactions
  • Contribute to long-term systems quality and engineering best practices

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience building client/server applications in C++
  • Experience with multithreaded, multi-process, real-time systems
  • Strong understanding of client/server messaging architecture
  • Experience tuning performance and reliability in real-time software
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical problem-solving skills
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-discipline game development environment
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality technical work to schedule, * Low-level socket programming experience
  • Familiarity with reflection systems or code generation workflows
  • Experience with compression techniques
  • Comfort working across Unix, Linux, and Win32 environments
  • Knowledge of distributed persistence systems
  • Prior game industry experience
