Job description

This position exists to support the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department by administering, maintaining, and optimizing the Department’s Salesforce platform to ensure the secure, reliable, and efficient delivery of licensing, compliance, enforcement, and administrative services. The IT System Administrator serves as the primary administrator for the Department’s Salesforce environment, ensuring the platform remains available, secure, and aligned with business and regulatory needs. The position is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Salesforce by managing user access, security roles, profiles, permission sets, workflows, automations, reports, dashboards, data integrity, and system performance. Working closely with business stakeholders, application developers, business analysts, project manager, and external vendors, the IT System Administrator implements platform enhancements, supports system integrations, troubleshoots complex issues, manages releases, and ensures adherence to Salesforce and industry best practices.

This position is essential to maintaining the integrity, security, and scalability of the Department’s Salesforce environment while enabling business operations through reliable technology solutions. The IT System Administrator ensures the platform continues to meet evolving operational requirements, supports regulatory compliance, promotes efficient business processes, and maximizes the Department’s investment in its enterprise technology infrastructure. How does it get done?

  • Administer, configure, and maintain the Department’s Salesforce platform by managing users, profiles, permission sets, roles, security settings, page layouts, objects, fields, validation rules, flows, reports, dashboards, and other platform functionality to support business operations.
  • Monitor the health, availability, performance, and security of the Salesforce environment by proactively identifying system issues, resolving incidents, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to ensure a reliable and secure enterprise platform.
  • Manage Salesforce releases, system upgrades, sandbox environments, deployments, and change management activities while coordinating with developers, business analysts, project managers, and vendors to ensure successful implementation of new features and enhancements.
  • Maintain the integrity, quality, and security of enterprise data by supporting data imports, exports, migrations, deduplication, validation, backups, and data governance activities in accordance with Department policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support Salesforce integrations with MuleSoft and other enterprise systems by monitoring integration performance, troubleshooting connectivity and data synchronization issues, and collaborating with technical teams to resolve integration-related problems.
  • Develop and maintain system administration documentation, including configuration standards, security procedures, environment documentation, release notes, technical guides, and operational procedures that support long-term platform sustainability.
  • Provide technical support, system administration, and end-user assistance by resolving complex Salesforce issues, fulfilling service requests, recommending configuration improvements, and delivering user training to promote effective adoption and efficient use of the platform.
  • Evaluate and implement Salesforce platform enhancements, automation opportunities, security improvements, and administrative best practices that improve operational efficiency, strengthen system governance, support regulatory compliance, and maximize the Department’s investment in enterprise technology.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in systems administration. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and pass a pre-employment background check. Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive phone and personal computer usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Supplemental Information
