Job description

PDC Technology is seeking an IT Support Technician with approximately 1-3 years of professional IT experience to join our team.

This is a hybrid help desk and field-support position responsible for providing technical support to users across multiple client environments. You will troubleshoot day-to-day technology issues remotely while also traveling to client locations when hands-on support, installations, deployments, or troubleshooting are required.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, working directly with people, and learning new technologies. Because we operate as an MSP, you will work with a variety of businesses, networks, systems, applications, and technology environments rather than supporting a single organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to client users by phone, remote support tools, email, and onsite visits
  • Troubleshoot Windows desktops and laptops, Microsoft 365 applications, printers, mobile devices, peripherals, and common business applications
  • Diagnose network connectivity, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and other common network-related issues
  • Perform workstation installations, replacements, migrations, and new-user setups
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot operating systems and software applications
  • Create and manage user accounts, permissions, groups, and access within Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID
  • Support Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint
  • Assist with basic Windows Server and network administration
  • Perform onsite troubleshooting and technology deployments at client locations
  • Assist with the installation and replacement of workstations, network equipment, and other IT infrastructure
  • Accurately document troubleshooting, work performed, and resolutions within our ticketing and documentation systems
  • Take ownership of assigned support tickets and communicate clearly with clients throughout the resolution process
  • Escalate complex technical issues when appropriate and collaborate with senior technicians, vendors, and other support resources
  • Follow established IT and cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Maintain accurate hardware, software, and client documentation
  • Educate users on technology, cybersecurity awareness, and appropriate technology practices when needed, Because PDC Technology supports business clients and performs technology projects and maintenance, occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required for scheduled deployments, upgrades, maintenance, or other client needs.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of professional IT support, help desk, desktop support, or similar experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience supporting Windows 10/11 environments
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 applications and services
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory and/or Microsoft Entra ID
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, LAN/WAN, and VPN technologies
  • Experience troubleshooting desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices
  • Familiarity with iOS and Android devices
  • Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot common business software
  • Experience working with a help desk or ticketing system
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and support requests
  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate an issue
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation

Preferred

  • Previous experience working for a Managed Service Provider (MSP)
  • Experience supporting multiple client environments
  • Experience with Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) or remote support platforms
  • Experience with Windows Server administration
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools such as endpoint protection, EDR/MDR, application control, email security, MFA, and password management
  • Familiarity with firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and other network infrastructure
  • Microsoft, CompTIA, or other relevant IT certifications, Because this position includes both remote support and onsite client service, candidates must be able to meet the following requirements:
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel to client locations throughout the greater Sacramento area as needed
  • Ability to work onsite at the PDC Technology office and client locations when required
  • Ability to work remotely when appropriate based on scheduling and business needs
  • Ability to safely lift and carry computers, monitors, UPS systems, networking equipment, and other IT hardware weighing up to approximately 50 pounds
  • Ability to work underneath desks, access network closets, install equipment, connect cabling, and perform other physical tasks commonly associated with onsite IT support
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while working at client locations
  • Ability to communicate professionally with business owners, executives, managers, employees, vendors, and other IT professionals
  • Ability to protect confidential client information and follow PDC Technology’s security policies and procedures
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check as a condition of employment
  • Ability to occasionally perform scheduled work outside normal business hours for deployments, maintenance, upgrades, or other client projects

What We’re Looking For
