Job description
The Cloud Server Operations Engineer is responsible for the provisioning, management, monitoring, and optimization of server infrastructure in AWS and Azure cloud environments. This role supports the migration of on-premises servers to the cloud while ensuring reliable, secure, scalable, and cost-effective operation of EC2 instances and Azure Virtual Machines. In this role, you will manage day-to-day server operations, implement automation for patching and configuration, monitor performance and availability using cloud-native tools, execute cloud migrations, and maintain hybrid environments where needed., * Provision, configure, and manage EC2 instances and Azure Virtual Machines, including compute, storage, and networking resources to meet operational requirements.

Implement and maintain automated patching, updates, configuration management, and remediation using AWS Systems Manager, Azure Update Management, and other automation tools.

Monitor server performance, availability, and health using AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and related alerting and logging solutions; respond to incidents and optimize as needed.

Plan and execute migrations of on-premises servers and workloads to AWS and Azure using migration services (e.g., AWS Application Migration Service, Azure Migrate) while minimizing downtime.

Manage server-related networking (security groups, NSGs, load balancers), storage (EBS, Azure Disks), identity/access controls (IAM, Entra ID), and security configurations.

Optimize cloud server costs through right-sizing, reserved instances/savings plans, and resource governance while maintaining performance and compliance.

Develop and maintain automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for server deployments and operations using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
Requirements
-
5+ years of experience in server operations, systems administration, or infrastructure management, including on-premises environments and cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure).

Hands-on experience managing and operating servers in AWS (EC2) and/or Azure (Virtual Machines).
-
Experience with cloud monitoring, alerting, logging, and performance optimization tools.
-
Experience with automated patching, configuration management, and server lifecycle operations in cloud environments.
-
Strong understanding of cloud networking, storage, security, and identity management for compute workloads.
-
Proficiency in scripting and automation for server operations (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or equivalent).
-
Experience with cloud migration projects or hybrid cloud operations is highly desirable.

Possess demonstrable experience and a high-level understanding in at least 3 of the following areas:

- AWS EC2 instance management, optimization, and automation
*
- Azure Virtual Machine provisioning, management, and hybrid connectivity (Azure Arc)
*
- Cloud monitoring and observability (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, alerting, and logging)
*
- Automated patching, configuration management, and remediation at scale
*
- Server and workload migration to AWS and/or Azure
*
- Infrastructure as Code and automation for compute resources (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep)

Cloud cost optimization and governance for server workloads

Must have an active professional certification such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) and/or AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer - Associate (or AWS Solutions Architect - Associate). Additional certifications in hybrid Windows Server administration or multi-cloud operations are a plus.
