Job description

This engineer will contribute to the BSI Cyber Scan platform - a multi-codebase system spanning Elixir services, Python components, JavaScript/React front-end, PostgreSQL databases, and AWS Lambda/Step functions. The platform is central to Travelers’ cyber underwriting capability and feeds multiple stakeholder groups: Data Science, Risk Services, Data Platform, Underwriting, Pricing, and RQI Platforms.

Per the job requisition, this role is responsible for:

  • Performing analysis, design, development, and configuration functions and defining technical requirements for assignments of intermediate complexity.

  • Participating with the team to perform analysis, assessment, and resolution for defects and incidents of intermediate complexity, escalating appropriately.

  • Working within team guidelines to independently tackle well-scoped problems., * Retirement: Travelers matches your 401(k) contributions dollar-for-dollar up to your first 5% of eligible pay, subject to an annual maximum. Requirements

  • Demonstrates understanding of technical concepts necessary to do the job effectively.

  • Experience with Elixir or another functional/actor-model language strongly preferred; willingness to learn Elixir required.

  • Comfort working across multiple languages and codebases (Elixir, Python, JavaScript/React) in a single product ecosystem.

  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services - Lambda, S3, RDS, or equivalent.

  • Exposure to gRPC or Protocol Buffers helpful but not required.

  • Strong debugging skills - able to determine source of issues in unfamiliar code or systems.

  • Recognizes and solves repetitive problems rather than working around them.

  • Breaks down large problems into smaller, manageable ones.

What is a Must Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience.

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range$99,100.00 - $163,400.00
