Job description

IT Operations Technician I is an entry-level technical position responsible for providing first-line support to employees while learning the organization’s systems, security requirements, operating procedures, and technology standards.

This role is intended for someone beginning a career in information technology. The technician will work under direct supervision and will not make significant production changes without review and approval.

This position will play a critical role in the production process and contribute to the team’s overall performance in Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Attitude (QCDSA).

  • Troubleshoot common Windows workstation, application, printer, peripheral, and connectivity issues.
  • Set up and deploy computers, monitors, docks, phones, and other approved equipment.
  • Install approved software using established procedures.
  • Assist with user onboarding and offboarding.
  • Reset passwords and assist with account access issues according to identity-verification procedures.
  • Maintain accurate ticket notes, asset records, and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Escalate security incidents, suspected phishing, malware, data exposure, or policy violations immediately.
  • Follow documented change-management and approval procedures.
  • Learn the organization’s network, Active Directory structure, Microsoft 365 environment, security tools, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in equipment inventory, workstation patching, and routine maintenance.
  • Assist senior IT personnel with projects while working within assigned permissions.

Authority and Limitations

The IT Operations Technician I may perform documented and approved support procedures but may not independently:

  • Modify production firewall, switch, server, or security configurations.
  • Create new technical standards or bypass established procedures.
  • Install unapproved applications.
  • Grant elevated permissions.
  • Make changes affecting multiple users without review.
  • Disable security controls.
  • Represent assumptions as confirmed facts during an incident., This position is designated as Safety Sensitive under Oklahoma law, including the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act. As a result, individuals in this position are subject to drug testing, and the use of medical marijuana-even with a valid license-is not permitted. This designation helps ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all employees.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field; or equivalent education and experience.

EXPERIENCE

1-2 years of basic understanding of IT operations and technical support.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and networking fundamentals., * Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to protect confidential and controlled information.
  • Willingness to follow procedures and ask questions before making unfamiliar changes.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience working in a regulated, investigative, public-safety, military, or compliance-focused environment.
  • General awareness of CMMC, NIST, ITAR, or other regulated-environment requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours per shift). Able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25-50lbs regularly, and occasionally heavier weights with assistance.

Must be able to tolerate exposure to manufacturing environments, including moderate noise levels, vibrations, and varying temperatures.

Ability to wear personal protective equipment ae required, Such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
