Job description

Marshall Investigative Group (MIG) is seeking a highly skilled Contract Operational Data Analyst to support the development of enterprise reporting, analytics, and operational performance dashboards.

This short-term engagement will focus on creating a scalable data reporting framework that consolidates information from multiple business systems, improves operational visibility, and establishes a foundation for future Power BI reporting initiatives.

This role is ideal for an experienced Excel, Power Query, and business intelligence professional who can independently organize data, automate reporting processes, and deliver actionable operational insights.

Project Duration

  • 3 to 6-month contract
  • Part-time or project-based engagement
  • Flexible hours based on project milestones

Project Objectives

The selected contractor will:

  • Extract and consolidate operational data from TrackOps and other business systems.
  • Integrate financial and operational data from QuickBooks where applicable.
  • Clean, transform, and standardize raw datasets.
  • Create repeatable Power Query workflows and data mapping structures.
  • Design and build an automated Excel-based reporting engine.
  • Develop KPI reporting focused on operational performance, productivity, utilization, quality, turnaround times, and business performance.
  • Prepare data models that can be seamlessly migrated into Microsoft Power BI.
  • Document processes and data workflows to support long-term scalability and knowledge transfer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management and support the organization’s objectives, Deliverables
  • By the conclusion of the engagement, the contractor should deliver:
  • Automated Excel reporting environment.
  • Standardized data model across source systems.
  • Documented data transformation process.
  • Executive-level KPI dashboard framework.
  • Power BI-ready data architecture.
  • Recommendations for future reporting enhancements and automation opportunities.

Requirements

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel expertise.
  • Advanced Power Query experience.
  • Strong data cleansing, transformation, and mapping capabilities.
  • Experience building automated reporting solutions.
  • Experience integrating multiple data sources into a unified reporting structure.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Power BI experience.
  • QuickBooks reporting knowledge.
  • Experience supporting operations, field services, investigations, insurance, claims, security, or professional services organizations.
  • Knowledge of workflow automation and business process improvement.
